Who is Santa Claus in Chainsaw Man?
Santa Claus is a mysterious woman who has a contract with the Doll Devil, a contract that allows her to control several different bodies, one of which is posing as a Devil Hunter from Germany. Not much is known about the actual person behind the moniker of Santa Claus, as most of the iterations have simply been dolls, whereas the original human behind the moniker is still an enigma.
Santa Claus is thought to be a mole-bearing, dark-haired woman. She is dressed in a light sweater and a black skirt. She acquired multiple doll limbs and appendages after consuming a portion of the Darkness Devil’s flesh, and her legs were constructed from doll heads. She changes during the night, growing larger and more malevolent. She also had pointed fangs and horns.
A tactical and strategic being, Santa Claus. She hid in the Soviet Union with a doll that was ideal for bartering and negotiating. She first appears as a lustful creature that demands a number of kids of both sexes as payment for bringing the Chainsaw Devil back from Japan, ostensibly so she can use them in contracts and for amusement (although this is probably done to instill in them strong emotions and prepare them to become the next perfect dolls).
Three of the kids are subsequently found to be utilized in the pact with the Hell Devil that involves the old man’s doll. She has no difficulty using them as puppets to compel a sizable number of individuals to work for her. Those who appear to care about her have not received any regard from her.
For instance, she made Denji into a puppet to speak to the Darkness Devil and complete the deal after her ally Tolka defeated him. Santa Claus employed a more ruthless strategy during the struggle by expressing his suffering through puppets all around the world. Santa Claus sent some puppets back to confuse and kill Denji in order to get rid of Quanxi. She was ultimately rendered unconscious and is currently unidentified and in custody.
Is Santa Claus a Devil in Chainsaw Man?
Before we give you a precise answer, let us first explain what Devils in Chainsaw Man actually are. A race of mythical beings known as devils can be found all over the earth. Devils are born in hell, and each one has a name that corresponds to an existing or feared entity. They materialize in accordance with the collective consciousness associated with their names. In both directions, devils who pass away in one world resurface in the other, effectively becoming immortal. Devils who pass away in Hell also reappear in the realm of humans and vice versa.
The series has often implied that Devils become considerably stronger by ingesting blood, especially that of another Devil since the major source of food for the Devils is the blood of humans and other Devils. Naturally, the majority are exceedingly hostile toward both people and devils, but others are only mildly hostile and obtain their food in other ways. The Primal Devils are an alternative to the regular Devils, and they are those who have names that represent the anxieties that are present in the human psyche by nature.
Although you might actually think this – and we can’t blame you really, we thought this ourselves when we first met Santa Claus – she is actually not a Devil, whoever she might be. Santa Claus is actually a human, a mysterious and unknown female who has been hiding her true identity well behind the contract she has with the Doll Devil, but no – the person behind the Santa Claus persona is not a Devil.
Is Santa Claus a human in Chainsaw Man?
As far as humans in Chainsaw Man go, there is nothing special we can add to the equation – they are regular human beings and are treated as such. There is really nothing special about humans, save for the fact that their fears are the source of a Devil’s powers and that they can be hosts to various Fiends and Hybrids.
Surprise, surprise, the actual woman behind the moniker of Santa Claus – one of the most enigmatic characters in the whole series – is actually a human that has a contract with the Doll Devil and is not, like Makima, the Doll Devil itself. Based on the powers Santa Claus has, people thought that she herself was the Doll Devil, but that was really not the case as she is a regular human. We just don’t know much about her.
Is Santa Claus a Fiend in Chainsaw Man?
Let us first define the terms used to refer to the enemies in Chainsaw Man before we can offer you a detailed response. Fiends are Devils that have, as a final option to surviving, taken possession of someone’s corpse. A Devil that turns into a Fiend loses most of their supernatural abilities as well as their capacity to contract with people. These can be distinguished because of the variations in the shape of their heads.
Fiends have the personalities of the Devils who gained control of their corpses, but because different Devils retain different amounts of mind of the original corpse they end up possessing, their personalities meld. Fiends have some of the same supernatural prowess as their corresponding Devils, but only smaller, and some of them have the ability to briefly assume their original Devil forms. Blood can also be used to replenish their health, although they cannot enter into agreements with humans or devils.
For a Fiend to exist, a Devil has to take possession of a human corpse. Once the corpse is possessed, it manifests a specific trait that makes it obvious that it is a Fiend (e.g. Power’s horns, Aki’s gun, etc.). Since none of the dolls, let alone the original Santa Claus, ever showed any specific physical traits, we can definitely confirm that Santa Claus is not a Fiend in Chainsaw Man.
Is Santa Claus a Hybrid in Chainsaw Man?
Before we respond to your question specifically, allow us to first define what Hybrids in Chainsaw Man are. It happens very infrequently for a human to merge with a Devil; hybrids (actual name unknown) are humans with the capacity to assume a Devil’s shape. Furthermore, signing a contract is the only way to become a hybrid. Hybrids are undetectable from regular humans as contrasted to Fiends, as long as they don’t transform into Devils; yet, they can transform into human-Devil hybrids and manifest the paranormal skills of their respective fused
In addition to gaining their respective Devil’s ability, their strength, speed, and durability all significantly increase after the transformation. Their metamorphosis typically affects their heads and arms, although competent hybrids can even turn their legs into weapons. Similar to Devils and Fiends, they have the ability to regenerate themselves by ingesting blood, however unlike those creatures, their capacity for regeneration is almost infinite, and they can recover their health even after having their heads or hearts severed from their bodies.
Hybrids are humans who have a part of a Devil inside them and can transform into a devil-human hybrid, like Denji or the Katana Man. Since Santa Claus doesn’t really transform into anything – she just creates dolls – we can confirm that she is actually not a Hybrid, and is, as we have said above, a regular human contracted to a Devil.
