Nezuko survived in the Demon Slayer Manga. Nezuko was turned into a demon by Muzan Kibutsuji at the very beginning of the Demon Slayer manga and anime, and throughout the series, she has had numerous dangerous moments and fights. Tanjirō made it his goal to protect her and find a way to cure her, but he was not able to keep her out of trouble. Still, Nezuko finally managed to transform back into her human form near the end of the manga and would go on to survive, marrying Zenitsu and having a family with him.

The rest of this article will focus on Nezuko Kamado and her fate in the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba series. Nezuko Kamado is a very popular and beloved character in the series that profoundly influenced the story’s protagonist. Her fate is of interest to all fans, and that is why we will reveal what happened to her in this article. This article will contain some spoilers from the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga, so be careful how you approach it.

Nezuko’s story is one of the most intriguing ones

As we all know, Nezuko turns into a demon at the beginning of the story, and her transformation is the chief plot element of the Demon Slayer manga and anime. Nezuko was the eldest daughter of the Kamado family, which was made up of her parents, Kie, Tanjurō, and her brothers Tanjirō, her older brother, and her younger brothers, Rokuta, Shigeru, Takeo, and Hanako.

They all lived on the mountain during the Taishō era. After the father died for unknown reasons, Tanjirō assumed the responsibility of supporting his family by selling charcoal and firewood in nearby towns, while Nezuko’s role was to watch over her mother and younger siblings. However, that family life full of happiness turned into a snowy night that would change Tanjirō’s and Nezuko’s lives forever.

That evening, a terrible creature named Muzan Kibutsuji broke into the home where Nezuko’s family resided and massacred the mother and children without showing mercy. Nezuko tried her utmost to keep her family safe by avoiding getting seriously hurt during the attack and being rendered unconscious.

At the same time, Tanjirō was sleeping at a neighbor’s house near the entrance to the woods where the Kamado family lived. Namely, as he was returning home, it had already gotten dark, and his neighbor offered him a place to stay so that he does not walk around the forest alone at night because Demons were roaming the forest. Although reluctant because he wanted to reach his family as soon as possible, Tanjirō accepted and slept in the neighbor’s house until morning.

What Is Nezuko’s Demon Rank: Lower or Upper Moon?

When morning broke, Tanjirō returned to his house only to find the scene of a brutal massacre there. His mother and his youngest siblings were brutally slaughtered, while his sister, Nezuko, was also heavily injured but alive. But, Nezuko was also a bit different. Before Tanjirō could realize what was going on, a Demon Slayer called Giyū Tomioka arrived and told Tanjirō that he had to kill his sister since she had been turned into a demon. Nezuko had attacked Tanjirō, but Tanjirō successfully rejected her attack and convinced Giyū to spare her life, promising that he would take care of her.

Giyū then helped them, and Tanjirō’s and Nezuko’s adventures began. Since Nezuko was turned into a demon, she gained some additional demon powers, but also the behavioral traits of a demon, which means that she became attracted to human blood and flesh and would, as Giyū stated, turn to attack humans, just like all other demons. Giyū helped them by sending them to his former master, Sakonji Urokodaki, who helped Tanjirō learn Water Breathing while, at the same time, conditioning Nezuko to treat humans as her allies and Demons as her enemies; this would ultimately stop her from consuming humans, which was confirmed when Sanemi tempted her to do so in the Butterfly Estate.

This was when it became clear that Nezuko was no ordinary Demon and that she could follow Tanjirō on his adventures and help the Corps fight off other Demons, which is what Nezuko did later on.

Nezuko survived the final battle and would go on to marry Zenitsu

So, what happened to her later on in the story? She did participate in numerous battles, and she helped – significantly – in defeating the Upper-Rank Six due, as well as Hantengu, the Upper-Rank Four. She would also participate in later battles, but at one point in the final arc, the story shifted away from her battles and focused on regaining her humanity.

So, how did the whole process work? As for the background story, we know that Tanjirō sought a way to make Nezuko human again and that Lady Tamayo promised to help him with her medicine, which is why Tanjirō collected Muzan’s blood from the Demons he had killed, as Tamayo suspected that with enough of Muzan’s blood, she could work on an antidote. She eventually succeeded and formulated a medicine, which was administered to Nezuko.

During the Infinity Castle Arc, Sakonji returns to the Butterfly Estate and is seen caring for Nezuko. He states that he has Nezuko Tamayo’s medication that should make her human once again, but he is unsure whether the medicine would do anything. As it turned out, Nezuko would continue to sleep for a while until later, when Sakonji Urokodaki was shocked to see Nezuko Kamado suddenly waking up. Observing how alarmed she is, he asks her what’s going on, but he does not receive a reply.

Tengen Uzui and Rengoku, who are standing outside, watch in disbelief as Nezuko begins to flee while Sakonji pursues her. They are not to follow Kiriya, she commands. Sakonji lost Nezuko when she jumped from a cliff because she was faster than him. Sakonji is startled to discover that Tamayo’s remedy to make her human again fails as Nezuko lands safely down and keeps running. Later, Nezuko Kamado is seen rushing toward the direction of the area where Muzan and Tanjirō, the Demon Slayers, were engaged in combat.

In a later chapter, Muzan gets really worried when Nezuko Kamado finally reaches the edge of the town, realizing that one of her eyes has reverted to normal. This ultimately proved that Tamayo’s medicine had indeed worked, but the reversion process was slow. Nezuko Kamado then proceeds slowly towards the city, where the Corps had been engaged in fighting Muzan.

She suddenly recalls Muzan’s assault on the Kamado household. Nezuko’s mind is further flooded with memories as she has glimpses of the individuals and occasions they experienced during their travels. She cannot continue walking and stumbles to the ground as fresh memories come to mind. She recalled their time spent in the Swordsmith Village, their experiences with Tengen Uzui, and their time at the Butterfly Estate. Nezuko rises up after regaining her balance, and her hand returns to being a human hand. Nezuko grabs her head, sweats, and cries out as she transforms into a human, claims that she is Nezuko Kamado once again, and finally assumes her human form again.

She would, of course, not participate in any more fighting, as she would not be of much use, but she was crucial in her brother fighting off Muzan from the inside, which helped him revert back to his human form. After Muzan’s death, it was revealed that Nezuko survived. Sometime later, Nezuko Kamado would go on to marry her childhood crush, Zenitsu, and start a family with him, living out her life until she died of old age at a later point in time.
