Mimiko and Nanako’s Death in ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ Explained: Who Killed Them & When?
Mimiko and Nanako from Jujutsu Kaisen were initially introduced as two sisters that Geto saved from their village, where they were treated as monsters because of their powers. Since then, they had been loyal to Geto until his death at the hands of Gojo, and while they said they would never forgive Gojo, they understood the poetic justice of Geto dying at the hands of Satoru Gojo. But, when Kenjaku took over Geto’s body and tricked them by not releasing it after Gojo had been sealed, they wanted to avenge their savior, but that plan cost them their lives. How? Well, keep reading to find out.
Mimiko and Nanako were killed by Sukuna in Shibuya
The sisters were initially introduced in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 as two members of Geto’s group. Still, their backstory was revealed in Gojo’s Past Arc, after Toji’s death, when Geto started going on more and more solo missions while his morals crumbled as he started hating humans.
One mission led him to a village where, after exorcising the cure, he had to witness two adults persuading him to kill two innocent girls simply because they had special powers. Geto, of course, wouldn’t do it, and at one moment, he simply snapped and used his curses to massacre the whole village.
The two girls, Mimiko and Nanako, were – of course – spared and went with Geto. He took good care of them, and we can conclude that he was a father figure to the little girls, but he never legally adopted them because he was too young to do so, and he didn’t seem to care for that legal aspect at the time.
The two of them are later seen watching as Geto assumes leadership of the Time Vessel Association and promises a world in which jujutsu sorcerers can live in freedom and unhindered. As a result of their shared belief in Geto and his mission, the two of them supported him throughout Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and jumped right into the battles he started in an attempt to capture Rika, the cursed spirit of Yuta.
They participated in the fights and survived, but they had to find out that Gojo killed their “father,” Geto. They want to fight Kenjaku to return Geto’s body after learning that he stole it and took possession of it. Still, Larue stops them, telling them to just wait patiently—which is what they eventually did—and assures them that there will be another opportunity to get Geto’s body.
The two sisters are seen once more during the Shibuya Incident Arc when all narrative gaps are eventually filled, and their story is appropriately closed. It is unknown what happened to them in the meantime, though, but they remained close to Kenjaku, as they were seen asking him to fulfill his part of the deal after Gojo had been sealed. Kenjaku, of course, refused to return Geto’s body, and the two sisters went away, swearing that Kenjaku would regret this. So, what happened?
Well, the sisters located Yuji after his loss to Choso, and while he was unconscious, they fed him two of Sukuna’s fingers. Jogo quickly arrived and burned the sisters, while he fed Yuji ten additional fingers. And while the sisters survived, there was no time for anything else as Sukuna soon rose and told them that they could speak to him.
With their heads down on the floor, they asked Sukuna to kill Kenjaku and return Geto’s body to them; Nanako even told him that she would reveal the location of one more finger if he did that. Sukuna then told them to raise their heads and first destroyed Mimiko’s head, telling the sisters that one finger did not give them the authority to order him around.
Nanako tried to avenge her sister, but Sukuna also cut her and killed her before she could use her power, and that is how and when the sisters died.
