Jujutusu Kaisen: Here Is Why Kenjaku Absorbed Mahito!
Mahito is a major villain in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga and anime. An important member of Pseudo-Geto’s team of villains, Mahito caused trouble for the Jujutsu Sorcerers and is infamously known for causing the death of Nanami, which is why many fans hate him. He later fought Yuji, Nobara, and Aoi Todo, seemingly killing Nobara and almost killing Yuji in the process. But, during the infamous Shibuya Incident, Mahito also ended his story, which was ultimately confirmed when Yuta seemingly killed Kenjaku. After losing to Yuji, Mahito was absorbed by Pseudo-Geto, and in this article, we are going to explain why Pseudo-Geto did what he did.
What did Pseudo-Geto do to Mahito? Did he kill him?
The story of this article actually began when Mahito murdered Nanami in front of Yuji’s eyes. Yuji then engaged in a bitter fight with the cursed spirit, but there was no obvious winner. At the same time, Nobara was fighting Mahito’s clone and was able to deal some serious damage, which also resonated with the original body. Mahito then decided to unite with his clone, but he also pulled a trick on Yuji that enabled him to touch Nobara’s face, seemingly killing her. Yuji was then completely broken, and just when Mahito was about to kill him, Aoi Todo appeared and helped. Once Yuji regained his battle spirit, the two “brothers” engaged the cursed spirit.
The fight was a bitter one, and like before, there was no clear winner, but Mahito seemed to be cornered. He tried to eliminate Todo from the battle by distracting him, but the latter was able to defeat Mahito’s creations rather quickly and rejoin the fight. Cornered once again, Mahito chooses to employ the all-or-nothing, 0.2-second Domain Expansion maneuver he picked up from Gojo. Even though he was able to get close to Aoi and chop off his hand, he ultimately failed because Todo was able to utilize his Boogie Woogie one last time, giving Yuji the upper hand. Mahito couldn’t win, not even after realizing the true nature of his soul; Yuji beat him and was about to murder him when an odd thing happened.
Namely, just before Yuji was going to murder him, Kenjaku, aka Pseudo-Geto, showed up and promised to assist Mahito. Mahito attempted to kill Kenjaku after realizing what he planned to do, but was unable, and Kenjaku then proceeded to use Geto’s original Cursed Spirit Manipulation technique to turn him into an orb and then consume him. And this was the end, as far as Mahito is concerned. There was a chance that Pseudo-Geto could bring Mahito back with the technique, even if only temporarily, but even that ended when Yuta decapitated Kenjaku in the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, seemingly killing him and Mahito as well.
Why did Pseud-Geto absorb Mahito?
Well, in case you wanted to know why Pseudo-Geto did what he did, we have that answer for you as well. Namely, Pseudo-Geto knew how powerful Mahito was. He knew his powers and abilities, and even if not directly, he could be quite useful. This is why he did not want to let him be exorcised, which is what Yuji wanted to do.
Namely, as an addition to the collection of cursed spirits that the original Geto had already had, Mahito was invaluable. His Idle Transformation was something exceptionally powerful, and Pseudo-Geto simply did not want to waste that. On top of that, Pseudo-Geto knew that he could use Mahito’s power (as he was an S-Grade Cursed Spirit) to further augment his Maximum: Uzumaki, and all of that explains why Pseudo-Geto actually decided to absorb Mehito instead of just letting him die.
Mahito’s power was useful to anyone who possessed it, as Mahito was one of the most dangerous villains in the series. Knowing how slick Pseudo-Geto was as a villain, it makes sense that he thought ahead and deduced that Mahito could be of much use to him later.
