The characters of Dragon Ball have always been intriguing, especially the villains, who – although similar – always have something that makes them stand out in comparison to other villains. Frieza is known as the most notorious foe Goku has ever faced and is probably the first villain that comes to mind when one speaks about Dragon Ball. Cooler, on the other hand, is his non-canon brother introduced in the Dragon Ball Z movies. They’re both powerful, but who would in a fight – Cooler or Frieza? Keep reading to find out!

Cooler is a formidable opponent, but he is not stronger than Frieza. Out of all the members of their race, Frieza is undoubtedly the strongest one at this moment, the most destructive, and the vilest. Cooler does have quite a fighting potential, but with all the enhancements Frieza has gone through over the years, he has surpassed his brother’s power levels and would be able to defeat him.

The rest of the article is going to be all about comparing the two selected strong characters from Dragon Ball. You’re going to find out who Frieza and Cooler are, as well as what their exact powers and abilities are. In the end, based on what we have presented earlier, we’re going to give our final verdict on who the stronger of the two brothers is.

Cooler and his powers

Cooler was an alien, the prince of Universe 7, and a commander of the Freeza Empire along with his younger brother Freeza, his nephew Kuriza, and his father, the Great King Cold, who led the Empire from the shadows. He appears as the main antagonist of the feature film bilogy consisting of Dragon Ball Z: Cooler’s Revenge and Dragon Ball Z: The Return of Cooler.

He is capable of sensing ki (without the aid of a tracker) and appears to be able to suppress his ki signature (as he was able to sneak past Goku and Piccolo without detection, something other villains have not done). He is also one of the few villains able to use teleportation (the others being Super Perfect Cell and Kid Buu).

He also possesses the ability to survive in the vacuum of space like Frieza and the other members of his race. He has the ability to survive even the most terrible injuries and fight again, as shown in the sixth Dragon Ball Z movie, in that all remnants of him are repaired with the technology of the Big Gete Star. Like his brother, he becomes a Cyborg after his defeat at the hands of Goku, only to be defeated once and for all.

In Dragon Ball: Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans, Cooler is revived as a Ghost Warrior by Dr. Lychee. As a Ghost Warrior, Cooler is much more powerful than before, being able to rival Super Saiyan Goku at Full Power. Cooler possesses many of the same techniques as his brother, though often noticeably stronger. Very little of his individual techniques differ from Frieza’s.

In the 2004 issue of V-Jump, his appearance in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 was confirmed by saying that Cooler’s final form has a level of 470,000,000 units. When he fights Goku and Vegeta as Metal Cooler in his final form, he has superior strength to Frieza’s final form. It is notable that he possesses an additional transformation.

Though Frieza uses his transformations to suppress his power, Cooler uses a way to enhance his power through transformation, developing an extra, more powerful form. However, this form was still not enough for the power of a Super Saiyan. Also, Cooler can power up his Supernova attack faster than Frieza can, thus making him much more dangerous.

Frieza and his powers

Frieza is one of the most prominent and powerful antagonists in the Dragon Ball manga and Dragon Ball Z anime, as well as in the Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball GT episodes. Frieza was the emperor of Universe 7 and managed the trade of the planets. He was feared by all for his extraordinary strength and wickedness. He is the descendant of Chilled, son of King Cold, Cooler’s younger brother and Kuriza’s father.

In combat, Frieza relies primarily on his monstrous physical strength and expert fighting skills to overpower and torture his opponents. During his fight with Nail on Namek, Frieza was able to fight the Namekian single-handed which still left him on the verge of death. Additionally, Frieza was capable of moving at speeds that go beyond light.

During his confrontation with Nail, Frieza was able to instantly get in front of him, on two occasions, and attack before the Namek even registered his movements. Freeza was also skilled at using the various parts of his body to aid him in combat. He used his horns to impale his opponents, was able to use his feet as substitutes for his hands, and often uses his tail to strangle his opponents.

Freeza is an expert in the manipulation, control, and mastery of ki, using it in different ways to his advantage, achieving an ability that combined with his physical strength causes great destruction that reaches planetary levels, managing to destroy Vegeta a rocky planet with a gravity ten times that of Earth with only a fraction of its power in its first form.

Freeza has telekinetic powers and is able to create objects with his energy such as spheres that imprison his opponent. Frieza’s specialty is ki beams fired from his fingertips such as the Death Ray and giant planet-wielding spheres such as the Supernova. Frieza is pretty tough. In his second form, he took a beating from Piccolo easily.

In his final form, he proved how durable he really is, by withstanding an x20 Kamehameha Kaio-ken with only minor burns and surviving the Super Genki-dama, who gathered the Genki of people from all over Universe 7, losing only his tail. in the process. After a brutal beating from Super Saiyan Goku, he managed to survive being cut in half by his own Kienzan, and also survived the destruction of Planet Namek and Earth in The Resurrection of ‘F’.

Other abilities that demonstrate the character’s resilience is the implied Regeneration ability of his that he has when transforming, as Frieza manages to regenerate his tail in the original manga after transitioning into his final form. He is also able to survive in the vacuum of space without oxygen, food, and water, and in a totally sedentary state, having his head and half of his body dismembered.

After his four months of training and in his Golden Frieza form, Frieza gained the ability to sense ki, an ability he did not previously have, and it is implied in the anime version of The Resurrection of ‘F’ that he can also sense ki. the divine ki

Cooler vs. Frieza: Who would win?

And now for the most important and interesting section of our article – the analysis. Here, we are going to use what we have found out about these two characters and analyze how all these facts would (or would not) help them in a fight against each other. Let us continue.

The analysis has to be divided into two parts. The pre-Super version of Frieza, and the Super version of Frieza, because the outcome is vastly different in these two situations. Namely, during the pre-Super storylines, Cooler was depicted as being stronger than Frieza. He was a non-canon character so the two of them were never officially compared, but based on his fights with Goku and the official data, Cooler was much stronger than Frieza.

Goku had much more problems fighting Cooler than he had while fighting Frieza in the same form. Cooler was also able to resist some of Goku’s attacks that would’ve harmed Frieza, and he also demonstrated that he had some amazing offensive power as well. The official data for the pre-Super period also list Cooler as having a lot more power than Frieza at his peak. But, things changed in the future.

Namely, with Cooler disappearing due to being a non-canon character, Frieza had time to improve and get stronger. And he did. For the first time in his life, Frieza actually trained properly during Dragon Ball Super, all because he wanted to get his revenge on Goku. He trained and enhanced his powers, eventually achieving the Golden Frieza form, which significantly surpasses any form we’ve seen from Cooler.

In his Golden Frieza form and as part of the storyline told in Dragon Ball Super, Frieza has become significantly more powerful and a formidable enemy. His powers grew and eventually surpassed the maximum cited for Cooler during the pre-Super period. This is why, ultimately, we decided to hand this victory over to Frieza. He has, indeed, surpassed his brother and would now be able to defeat him. We have to see whether Cooler will appear in the canon and how his power levels will be estimated then, but until that happens, Frieza is the stronger one.
