Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End has perfectly combined Japanese fiction’s artistry with Western fiction’s tropes to create a wonderful fantasy work that is extremely popular worldwide, and for a good reason. While the protagonists are the story’s focus, in this article, we will discuss two other characters from the series, two skilled Mages who debuted during the First-Class Mage Exam and will have more appearances later. Both of them were members of Methode’s 1st Party and managed to pass the first stage by obtaining a Stille. They are Ton and Länge, and in this article, we are going to tell you all you need to know about the two of them as they appeared in the series.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Ton and Länge are both secondary characters introduced in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. They are seemingly skilled and experienced Mages, both of them, and both were members of Methode’s party.
  • Ton is a male Mage who was a member of Methode’s 1st Party during the first stage of the First-Class Mage Exam. He later failed to pass the second stage. Not much is known about him.
  • Länge is a female Mage who was a member of the 1st Party led by Methode during the first stage of the First-Class Mage exam. Her powers have not been revealed, but we know that she failed the second stage.

Ton is a skilled male Mage, but we know very little about him and his skills

Ton is a secondary character from the world of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and sadly, we really don’t know much about him. He is a young male Mage with blonde hair and blue eyes, and aside from the fact that he was a member of Methode’s 1st Party during the first stage of the Exam, there is not much we can tell you, sadly, as the series wasn’t really focused on him.

We can deduce that he certainly was skilled, although it is difficult to assess the true level of his power. Methode’s party did not look like they had much trouble in catching a Stille, but this doesn’t have to mean much as Methode is known to be a skilled mage and it was probably thanks to her leadership that the party passed the first stage with relative ease. On the other hand, when they were left to care for themselves during the second stage of the exam, Ton did not do too well.

Namely, he failed to pass the second stage as organized by Sense, although we don’t have too many details for you; he wasn’t with the group led by Denken so we don’t know how and when he failed the exam. Aside from this, we know that he likes to relax in a bath with a drink next to it, and… that’s about that. This is all the information we have about Ton, and we have provided you with absolutely everything you need to know.

Länge’s abilities are also probably great, but we also don’t know much about them

As far as Länge is concerned, she is a young female Mage who was also a member of Methode’s 1st Pary during the initial part of the exam. Her age is not known, but she is definitely very young; she has pinkish hair, and her eyes are of the same color.

Much like it was the case with Ton, we don’t know too much about Länge or her powers. She certainly is skilled, which cannot be denied, but like in Ton’s case, it was probably due to Methode’s superior skills that their party managed to pass the first stage with such ease. The series hasn’t revealed any additional details about her powers or her specialties, so we don’t really have much to add here. She did spend a lot of time learning, as was seen when she received the message, so we assume that she is a diligent Mage. Her name in German means “length”.

As for her fate in the second stage, we can confirm that she failed to pass it as well, but we do know what happened. She was part of Denken’s improvised group but after they had been attacked by a Gargoyle, she ended up being trapped in a room with spikes on the walls that were closing in. Denken tried to save her but failed, so she was forced to use Lernen’s Golem to survive, but this meant that she was automatically disqualified from the test, so she was among those who failed to pass.
