In Chainsaw Man, one of the most intriguing topics among fans is Aki’s romantic orientation because he was actually involved with a few characters during the storyline. But his involvement with the characters was actually quite professional because he mostly hung out with them due to work. Of course, that didn’t stop fans from coming up with theories regarding his orientation. So, is Aki gay, bisexual, or straight?

Aki’s romantic orientation in Chainsaw Man was never confirmed, but it was heavily implied that he was straight. This is because he had a crush on Makima, just like many different characters. But the fact that Makima was the Control Devil made fans wonder if Aki’s crush on her was actually genuine.

The fact that Makima had the power to control people made Aki’s feelings for her questionable because she could have influenced them from the very start. In that regard, fans wondered whether or not Aki was actually straight, as he might not have had true and genuine feelings for Makima. That said, let’s take a look into Aki’s sexuality in Chainsaw Man.

What Is Aki’s Sexuality In Chainsaw Man?

Aki is one of the main characters of Chainsaw Man, and that’s why fans are curious about his romantic orientation and who he might be interested in. Of course, fans want to know what kind of person he is into and whether or not he has feelings for anyone in the storyline. And that’s because he is actually one of the most good-looking characters in Chainsaw Man and has one of the most intriguing storylines.

There is also the fact that Aki has formed relationships with several people in the series, especially when it comes to his work as one of the Devil Hunters working for the Special Divisions of Public Safety. Interestingly enough, there were instances where some fans actually thought that he could be the person to wave the LGBTQ+ banner in Chainsaw Man. So, what is Aki’s romantic orinetation in Chainsaw Man?

Some fans have been wondering about Aki’s orientation because there were instances where he gave hints about the type of person he might be as far as his orientation is concerned. Of course, we knew that Himeno was one of the first people he became friends with when he joined Public Safety and that she was interested in him from the very beginning. However, Aki never returned her feelings and only treated her as a good friend.

In the manga, Aki was partnered up with the Angel Devil in the arcs after the Katana Man arc, and that was when people saw his dynamic with his new Devil partner. While his relationship with the Angel Devil started out rocky because they weren’t exactly on good terms because they both hated one another’s kind, they eventually became good friends in the story.

It even came to a point where Aki was willing to lose some of his remaining lifespan to touch the Angel Devil so that he could save him. Meanwhile, the Angel Devil learned to trust Aki and even confided secrets about the Devils to him.

The relationship of Aki with the Angel Devil got fans shipping them as a possible couple. That was interesting to see because the Angel Devil was one of the few people that Aki actually became good friends with, as he was willing to give up some of his life to ensure his partner was safe.

But while there were hints that Aki could have been in love with the Angel Devil, nothing was ever confirmed. In fact, there were no confirmations regarding Aki’s orientation, as he never said anything about liking Himeno or the Angel Devil.

Even if nothing was ever confirmed about Aki’s orientation, the thing is that he actually had a crush on Makima. This crush has persisted ever since their first meeting, as it was actually his crush on her that made Aki’s relationship with Denji sour at the start, knowing well that the Chainsaw Man was also in love with Makima. Aki’s crush on Makima even allowed her to convince him to take both Denji and Power as his new roommates.

However, the big twist here is that Makima was the Control Devil the entire time. She possessed the power to control people, and it is more than possible that Aki’s crush on her was merely a product of her powers as the Control Devil.

In that regard, the fact that Makima might have been merely controlling Aki was why he had a crush on her. When the Angel Devil asked Aki why he liked Makima, he couldn’t remember why. As such, the possibility that he only liked Makima because she controlled him opened up the floodgates of Aki’s true orientation.

Considering that Aki’s feelings for Makima probably weren’t genuine, fans had more reasons to believe that he was actually in love with the Angel Devil and that their relationship was more than just mere friendship. Then again, the Angel Devil was never confirmed to be gay, as he was actually in love with a woman in the past.

As such, Aki’s orientation is still up for debate. Unless the creator of Chainsaw Man says something about it, Aki’s romantic life is still something that we cannot clearly confirm. But that is already moot and academic due to Aki’s fate in the storyline.

Does Aki End Up With Anyone In Chainsaw Man?

Sadly, Aki never ended up with anyone in Chainsaw Man. That’s because he ultimately died during the Gun Devil arc. He died in that fight with the Gun Devil and even became the host of the Gun Fiend.

Of course, Aki never had a girlfriend or a boyfriend as far as we know because of the fact that he was so fixed on killing the Gun Devil. It was his life’s mission to avenge his family’s death, which was why he hardly had any time for relationships.

When Aki’s lifespan was shortened to only two years after he used the power of the Cursed Devil during the early part of the Katana Man arc, he became more focused on his mission to find and kill the Gun Devil because he didn’t have a long time left to live. As such, he never tried to get romantically involved with anyone.
