It provided us with great stories, memorable characters, and cultural references that will stay with us for a long time. Of course, popular cues like Ninja Run or signature gestures of some characters were immortalized in popular culture, and with them, some cool nicknames. In this article, we will present you with our 10 Naruto nicknames you need to know about.
We will include nicknames that we feel left the biggest mark on the fans, and provide you with our picks. There will be the obvious choices but maybe we will surprise you with some of our picks. If you are interested, stay with us till the end of the article. Let’s start!
10. God’s Angel
Everybody knows Konan, a kunoichi from Amegakure and one of the founding members of the original Akatsuki, together with Nagato and Yahiko. She is probably one of the best-characterized female characters from Masashi Kishimoto in the Naruto series, and that is a huge compliment for her. She earned her nickname from the villagers – Konan, Nagato, and Yahiko protected their village, and because of her unique Paper Ninjutsu, Konan was named God’s Angel.
The nickname is really suitable for her because throughout the series she always showed loyalty to her village and loved ones, for whom she in the end died. Konan truly earned her nickname, and it will immortalize her character with Naruto fans forever.
9. Demon of the Hidden Mist
Another really iconic character from the Naruto series is Zabuza Momochi, a missing-nin from Kirigakure’s Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist. He appeared in the first huge arc for Naruto in the first part of the series, when the missing-nin together with Haku attacked Team 7 and their sensei, Kakashi.
Zabuza’s crimes were unparalleled. He was a really skilled shinobi and a member of Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, which only strengthen his reputation around the world. However, he earned the nickname far before that – before becoming a student, Zabuza slaughtered over one hundred Academy students, which earned him the nickname Demon of the Hidden Mist. He was ruthless and after disagreeing with the reign of the Fourth Mizukage, decided to go rogue. However, in the end, he showed mercy and love for his apprentice Haku. That arc is arguably the best storyline in the Naruto series ever.
8. Slug Queen
Okay, after a few serious nicknames we needed to put this one. Tsunade is quite a notable character – she is the granddaughter of the First Hokage, one-third of the Konoha’s Legendary Sannin, the best medical-nin in the Ninja world, one of the strongest Shinobi ever, and a Fifth Hokage. Tsunade has a few nicknames to her name but Slug Queen kind of stood out from the rest.
She earned that nickname because she can summon segments of Katsuyu, a slug from the Shikkotsu Forest, a legendary place and one of the three unexplored sage regions. Only Tsunade and her disciple Sakura Haruno can summon Katsuyu, who is primarily used for healing people – it can be separated into hundreds of parts and heal a huge group of injured shinobi. Katsuyu is also really useful in combat. Even though Sakura can summon the slug as well, there is only one Slug Queen.
7. Red-Hot Blooded Habanero
After meeting Naruto’s character in the series for the first time, we always wondered from whom he inherited his feisty personality. Uzumaki Kushina was his mother and we realized immediately the origins of his personality. Kushina was a kind and ambitious young girl who proclaimed to her all class that she will become the first female Hokage. Everybody laughed at her and teased her – her classmates named her Tomato for her signature Uzumaki red hair.
Because of their teasing, she would lash out and pummel other children, and in addition to her anger, her hair would go alive with her anger which earned her the nickname Red-Hot Blooded Habanero. She hated her hair until she met Namikaze Minato, who told her that he always admired her and loved her hair. Kushina later called her hair the Red Thread of Fate.
6. Pervy Sage (Ero-Sennin)
Jiraiya is one of the most loved characters in the anime series, and his life impacted a lot of people around him – namely Naruto, who considered him his family. He is a powerful ninja who in his free time wrote The Tale of the Utterly Gutsy Ninja, from which Naruto got his name, a writer of famous erotic novels called Icha Icha novels, and a huge pervert and ladies man.
His playful and perverted nature brought him a lot of trouble, and when he peeked at Tsunade during her bathing, she broke his arms, and ribs, and injured his internal organs which put him out of service for a very long time. Naruto often called him a Pervy Sage, and that nickname stayed with him until he died.
5. Copy Ninja
Imagine being able to copy any strong jutsu and replicate it immediately against your opponents. Well, Hatake Kakashi was mostly known for his rare ability. He is one of the most talented Konoha’s Ninja, and his skills are rarely outmatched. The Sharingan that he got from his friend and teammate Uchiha Obito before he died, made him a very dangerous ninja whose reputation was already quite notable even before acquiring this famous and powerful dojutsu.
Kakashi has a lot of nicknames besides this one, but the famous Copy-Nin scared a lot of shinobi all over the Ninja world. Besides, we didn’t want to put Friend-Killer Kakashi, it’s just too sad and untrue.
4. Leaf’s Noble Green Beast
Might Guy is a lot of things but a coward. His intensity and passion could not be matched by anyone, besides his student Rock Lee, who also possesses a cool nickname, Bushy Brows. At first glance, Guy is not considered really powerful because he was never talented as his friend and rival Hatake Kakashi, however, that did not stop him to become one of the most powerful Konoha’s ninjas.
He is a master of Taijutsu, a hand-to-hand combat expert who with the ability of opening Eight Inner Gates, which unlocks every mental and physical attribute to its full potential. His true power was displayed during Fourth Shinobi War, and he was the only one who actually harmed resurrected and overpowered Uchiha Madara, who even complimented his ability and strength. Might Guy is truly a Leaf’s Noble Green Beast.
3. The White Fang of the Leaf
Hatake Sakumo, at his time, was one of the most talented Konoha’s Ninjas. His clan’s White Sabre Chakra and unbelievable ability earned him the name The White Fang of the Leaf. Sakumo was Kakashi’s father, whom he loved very dearly and raised by himself since his wife died when Kakashi was little.
However, his name was disgraced after abandoning the mission where he chose to save his comrades and villagers. After the mission, everyone despised him for not completing the mission – from the government, fellow shinobi, villagers, and even the shinobi that he saved. Sakumo’s abilities were whittled down, and consequently, he got really depressed, which coerced him to commit suicide. Kakashi and the village hated him for that but in the end, his name was cleared and he finally got a chance to make amends with his son during Fourth Shinobi War.
2. God of Shinobi
Senju Hashirama, with Madara Uchiha, is the most powerful shinobi ever, well, until Sasuke and Naruto surpassed them. Hashirama was the First Hokage of the Leaf Village and because of his powers, the people and fellow comrades named him the God of Shinobi. He sought peace for the Ninja Continent and almost did it, however his death prevented him from achieving his ultimate goal.
His rival and friend was Madara Uchiha, and even though they did not see eye to eye, Madara still respected him and considered him a friend – with superior skills.
1. Yellow Flash
Lastly, we needed to put Namikaze Minato’s nickname in the first place, because he is simply the coolest and one of the most powerful shinobi of all time. His speed was not matched by anyone (maybe the cosmic ninja clan, Ōtsutsuki) and his unique skill was universally admired. Supposedly the fastest shinobi ever, the Fourth Raikage A, considered him as even (probably) faster than him! After fighting with the Yellow Flash during the Third Shinobi War, Minato strengthened his reputation even more as the fastest ninja alive.
Naruto’s father died really young and if he stayed alive, who knows what would be his power limit? That is why the Yellow Flash is the coolest nickname you should definitely know from the Naruto series.
