Sasuke Uchiha and his powers
Sasuke Uchiha is a fictional character from the manga and anime series Naruto, written and illustrated by mangaka Masashi Kishimoto. He was conceived to be the best friend of Naruto Uzumaki, the protagonist of the series, possessing numerous characteristics, both physical and psychological, totally opposite to the latter.
In the beginning, he is presented as a positive figure as well as fundamental in the development of the plot; the young ninja is part of Team 7, but at the end of the first part of the manga he abandons his companions becoming an antihero, consumed by hatred and thirst for revenge (these feelings, in fact, will totally change him, making him unrecognizable in the eyes of the whole village).
Since early childhood, Sasuke has been considered a genius by members of the same Uchiha clan and later also by his teacher Kakashi, so much so that he will be the best of his course at the ninja academy. The young man obsessively develops his abilities initially to obtain the strength necessary to kill his brother Itachi and later to avenge him: to this end, not only the teachings of Kakashi and Orochimaru but also the rivalry with Naruto will be fundamental.
He immediately demonstrates great skill in martial arts, so much so that Kakashi has to use both hands during the bell test, and later, before taking part in the exam to become Chunin, he manages to improve further by copying the style of Rock Lee. He is endowed with superhuman speed, incredible reflexes, and extraordinary endurance, so much so that he can successfully sustain long battles against very powerful opponents (such as Itachi and Danzo) and even after having already sustained exhausting ones (such as against Kakashi and Naruto).
He also boasts exceptional skill in the use of any ninja weapon and with his Kusanagi sword, which he can also infuse his chakra.
In the first part of the manga he is branded by Orochimaru with the cursed sign of the sky, which improves his abilities at the expense of the increasing influence on him of the chakra of the legendary ninja, and after the escape from Konoha the Quartet of Sound makes him able to use the second level of it: when Sasuke uses this version of the brand his skin turns dark gray, the sclera of both eyes turns black, the hair grows thicker and takes on a lighter color and unfolds from the back two wings in the shape of hands.
After the bloody battle with Itachi, Sasuke loses the Cursed Sign but remains compatible with it, as he demonstrates on several occasions when he is saved thanks to this power by Jugo; always thanks to the training with Orochimaru. Sasuke obtains immunity to poisons and learns all the techniques of the latter related to snakes, but following the clash with Itachi he loses them, and in fact, the call of him passes from these to the hawks.
He also possesses a remarkable ability also in the use of illusory arts, although not at the level of his brother: with the basic Sharingan he still managed to save himself from Itachi’s Tsukuyomi, to dialogue with the Fox in Naruto’s mind, and to subdue the king of gods. Manda snakes. With the hypnotic Sharingan he was able to immobilize Killer Bee, some samurai, and Shi as well as create an illusion similar to his brother’s technique with which he distracted Danzo.
After obtaining the Rinnegan, Sasuke’s ability in genjutsu increases to the point of subduing all nine hunters with a single glance. Like all Uchiha, he has a natural predisposition for the fire-type chakra, learning the supreme fireball technique at the age of seven, and later also learns how to use the lightning-type chakra, learning from Kakashi the Chidori and creating numerous variations.
Deidara and his powers
Deidara is a Nukenin from Iwagakure and a member of Akatsuki. In Iwagakure, he was an assassin in the Bakuha Butai demolition unit. He can make figures out of clay that he can explode. There are mouths in his palms, which he uses to create these bombs.
In battle, Deidara uses special mouths placed on each of his hands to create Blast Clay, clay infused with the explosive chakra of the Blast Release, which explodes at a precise command from the Rock ninja. The explosion is usually triggered with the “Katsu” command. The radius of the explosion is usually determined by the amount of chakra that is infused within the clay.
Deidara manages to create five different types of explosives, which change their name depending on the amount of chakra that the ninja inserts into the clay to be modeled: the first level, with a modest amount of chakra, is C1 which consists in creating small animals of ‘clay useful only if the opponent is off guard; the second is the more powerful C2 level, with which Deidara creates a clay dragon which, in turn, is capable of generating smaller explosive dragons that it releases from its mouth.
Level C3 is the most powerful, and with it Deidara creates a gigantic bomb which he gives the shape he prefers and which generates an explosion capable of destroying an entire village. The last level is C4, called C4 Garuda, a technique that requires less chakra than C3 and is less destructive, but certainly more dangerous and lethal for living creatures.
He shapes the clay with his own mouth, producing a clone that varies in size depending on the range. By exploding, C4 releases thousands of microscopic bombs which, entering the blood circulatory system through respiration, destroy all life forms that inhale them from within. Deidara’s last desperate technique is level C0.
This is a self-destruct, creating an explosion with an approximate radius of 10 kilometers; after tearing off his clothes, he discovers an opening on his chest near his heart, sealed with the threads usually used by Kakuzu. Once torn, the opening reveals itself to be another mouth, into which Deidara inserts a large quantity of clay; lines form all over her body, then concentrate in one point and explode; the explosion forms a figure in the sky that is very reminiscent of artist Tarō Okamoto’s sculpture The Tower of the Sun. The clay mold used for level C3 is also very similar to this sculpture.
Sasuke vs. Deidara: Who won?
Due to the fact that we actually saw them fight each other in the manga and the anime, we are going to bring you a recap of their fight from which you will be able to get all the necessary answers. This is also why we opted for such an approach, rather than our point-by-point system, as the main point of this article is the battle that actually happened, rather than a clear analysis. So, here’s how the battle played out.
He then teamed up with Tobi after Sasori’s death, with whom he defeated the tailed beast Sanbi. He then sealed with the other members of the Akatsuki Sanbi and angrily left after learning that Sasuke had killed Orochimaru, saying it was up to him as it was because Orochimaru left that he was recruited by the Akatsuki. He met Sasuke Uchiha and decided to confront him with Tobi.
He crippled Sasuke after placing a minefield under his feet and attacked him from the air with missiles. Sasuke protected himself by going to level 2 and managed to defeat Deidara’s C2 dragon by leaning on his sword planted in the ground to gain the necessary meters to touch him. Deidara angrily used the Garuda C4 and released hundreds of microscopic bombs into the air which, upon exploding, destroyed the cells of living beings that had swallowed them.
Sasuke used genjutsu and got away with it, then attacked Deidara, but it turned out that Deidara saw the trickery and left a clay clone on his bird and hid while waiting for Sasuke to show up. He then locked him in a C4 Garuda but Sasuke broke free and destroyed the bombs by blasting himself with his Chidori. Deidara, running out of chakra, decided to finish off Sasuke by using his Ultimate Art: suicide in a blast covering a 10 km radius. He released the mouth at his heart and gave him some clay. Deidara died in the explosion caused but Sasuke escaped by invoking Manda who took the explosion instead of Sasuke.
