What Is KCM Naruto? Kyuubi Chakra Mode Explained

Share:

One of the best aspects of the ‘Naruto‘ series is how Masashi Kishimoto created and further developed the world of Naruto. Villages, jutsus, shinobi, and powers are truly the best parts of the Naruto world. The series’s titular character is Naruto himself, who became the strongest shinobi in the Ninja world. In this article, we will talk about Kyuubi Chakra Mode, which became pivotal in many important conflicts in the Naruto series. So, what is KCM Naruto?

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Kyuubi Chakra Mode, or Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, is a unique form of transformation that is given to jinchūriki of Nine-Tails. More specifically, Naruto gains chakra from Kyuubi and mixes it with his chakra.
  • From the beginning of the Naruto series, the Nine-Tails jinchūriki managed to gradually gain more and more of Kyuubi chakra and transform into various Kyuubi Chakra Modes that will be explained further in the article.

Versions of KCM Naruto in the anime and manga

As usual, anime and manga series always provide the most information we are introduced to. Sometimes, we must interpret and investigate the scenes by ourselves to understand the aspects of the mechanics or something else.

In this case, Naruto in KC Mode has few layers and is developed multiple times during the series.

Version one of KC Mode – Tailed Beast Mode (Basic)

Some fans will argue that Naruto awakened the Nine-Tails Chakra Mode during part one of the Naruto series, specifically during the Prologue – Land of Waves arc when Team 7 fought against Zabuza Momochi and his partner Haku. Naruto activated the form in anger and used Kyuubi’s chakra to defend Sasuke from the attack.

However, that is not true since the first real Kyuubi Chakra Mode awakening happened during the Fourth Shinobi World War: Confrontation arc when Naruto finally puts Kyuubi under his control. This version made Naruto extremely powerful, but it had many risks – some included using the Kyuubi chakra too much and letting the beast take away Naruto’s own chakra and ultimately kill him.

For that reason, Naruto couldn’t use the Kyuubi chakra too much since the Tailed Beast could kill him. Another risk is Kyuubi taking over Naruto’s body and destroying everything.  Before the full version two of the KC Mode, Naruto manages to convince Kurama not to take his chakra, and gradually, the beast starts removing the limitations of the KC Mode.

Version two of KC Mode – Kurama Mode

After Naruto finally befriends the Kyuubi and learns its name, the gutsy ninja can enter the completed version of Nine-Tails Chakra Mode: Tailed Beast Mode without the full transformation.

In this particular Mode, Naruto is stronger, faster, and can transform parts of his body into Kyuubi. He can now lend his and Kurama’s chakra to other shinobi, granting them a similar version of the Mode that Naruto had in the first part of the series.

Of course, this is not the strongest nor the complete KC Mode, but it “carried” the Allied Forces against Madara and Obito Uchiha most of the time.

Version three of KC Mode – Tailed Beast Mode with Minato (Upgraded)

Now, we know that Minato Namikaze is Naruto’s father, who, with his wife and mother Kushina, sealed the Nine-Tailed Beast into Naruto as an infant. Minato realized he couldn’t seal the whole beast in a small baby and sealed the Yin half in himself.

For that reason, he can use the Kyuubi Chakra Mode properly during the Fourth Shinobi War and combine his powers with Naruto – the Yin and Yang of the Kyuubi chakra are connected, which awakens an upgraded version of the Tailed Beast Mode.

Now Naruto and Minato can both share Kyuubi’s chakra on the battlefield, dish out much more powered attacks like Tailed Beast Balls, and perform the usual techniques, which are much stronger. In this mode, when Minato dies, Kurama fully accepts Naruto and finally lends absolute power to Naruto.

Version four of KC Mode – Six Paths Sage Mode

This KC Mode is absolutely “cracked.” Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki lends his Six Paths chakra to Naruto; we see this version of the KC Mode that has already been strong enough to concur with most of the Ninja World.

Uchiha Madara is more than most of the Ninja World, and his power reaches cosmic levels. Naruto used the Six Paths Sage Mode to fight the Ten-Tails empowered Madara Uchiha, and he mostly succeeds in being on par with the enemy. However, that Mode is still a partial power Kurama and Naruto can achieve in the series.

Version five of KC Mode – Asura Kurama Mode

This Mode is essentially an upgraded version of the Six Paths Sage Mode, in which Naruto uses the mentioned Hagoromo chakra and combines it with the Shadow Clone Jutsu. More specifically, Naruto collected huge amounts of natural energy and merged two Kurama clones into one, creating a three-headed Naruto/Kurama avatar.

Naruto used that particular KC Mode during the final battle of the Naruto Shippuden series when Uchiha Sasuke and Uzumaki Naruto replicated the battle from the first series and clashed once again in the Valley of the End. It was an epic fight that resulted in a draw but showcased the true power of the last Uzumaki and Uchiha heir.

Version six of KC Mode – Baryon Mode (Boruto series)

Finally, we have the complete and most powerful Naruto KC Mode of them all – Baryon Mode. During the Boruto series, we, as the audience, watched how the shinobi lived in the peaceful ninja world that inevitably started having conflict once again.

The danger of the Ōtsutsuki clan taking over the Ninja continent is present, and our heroes must protect it. Boruto is Naruto’s son, and he is in the middle of the conflict – Seventh Hokage needs to do everything to protect his son and his family, the Konoha Village.

During the fight against Isshiki Otsutsuki, grown-up Naruto showcased amazing prowess. The ultimate Baryon Mode made Naruto and Kurama fuse their chakras like nuclear energies and awaken their true power. The drawbacks of the power were huge, and despite winning against Isshiki, Kurama was lost forever.

How long is Naruto in KCM?

In the beginning, the first version of KC Mode was quite weak and had a short span compared to the other versions we mentioned. However, after escaping the secret compound and joining the Fourth Shinobi War, Naruto is shown lending his chakra to other shinobi while providing the Shadow Clones to help in the war.

This was a huge feat, and the fans could see how powerful Naruto really was. Now, after getting to the Kurama Mode of KCM, Naruto is seen losing chakra and becoming exhausted in the battle against Obito, which was solved with Obito helping Sakura heal Naruto and sealing Minato’s Kurama in him. After that, Naruto was mostly unstoppable, if we consider that his character gains Hagoromo’s chakra and becomes a godlike powered shinobi.

Only in the fight against Sasuke Naruto falls to exhaustion, not before punching his rival one more time. So yes, Naruto can spend hours, even days, in the KC Mode since he is an Uzumaki with enormous chakra levels and access to natural energy. Seems reasonable, right?

Can Naruto use KCM without Kurama?

Kurama sacrificed itself to protect Naruto in the Boruto series.

To answer this question immediately, no, Naruto cannot use Kyuubi Chakra Mode without Kurama, which lends him chakra for all of the versions of the Mode. When Kurama died in the battle against Ishikki in the Boruto series, Naruto lost access to the Kyuubi chakra. Still, he will probably be able to use the Six Paths Sage Mode that he granted from Hagoromo, which mostly revolves around natural energies and not solely Kurama’s chakra.

Here Is Why Sasuke Cannot Use Sage Mode!

Overall, it seems that Boruto writers finally found a way to “nerf” Naruto and Sasuke by taking their powerful sources of power for younger shinobi to shine more. This is expected, regardless of what OG Naruto fans say – that is the progress of the character that has been unstoppable for most of the series.

How fast is KCM Naruto?

Regarding speed, the Naruto universe does not apply the traditional physics of the real world. So, we will need to use the evidence we saw in the Naruto series.

First, KC Mode Naruto is extremely fast, as seen in the Fourth Shinobi World War: Confrontation arc when Naruto encounters Edo-Tensei Third Raikage in version one of KC Mode. He barely dodges the attack of the allegedly fastest shinobi to grace the Ninja World (with Minato, of course). In the second version of the KC Mode, during the fight with Madara, Naruto dodges lightning-fast attacks and saves himself.

At the end of the Fourth Shinobi War, the series settled that Naruto was one of the fastest or not as fast as Kaguya. The Boruto series shows Naruto as unbelievably fast, especially during the fight with Isshiki and other powerful enemies. Ultimately, Bayron Mode showcased Naruto’s ultimate power until major things in the story happened.

Nevertheless, applying real-life physics rules to Naruto Universe is unbelievably silly because they won’t make sense – the proof is all over the Internet, and silly calculations can only make you laugh. In the end, we can conclude that KC Mode is amazingly powerful in the Naruto series, and the Fourth Shinobi War arc will stay in our memories as one of the best showcases of powers we’ve seen in the series.
