Is Sasuke a Jinchūriki? What Tailed Beast Would He Have?
Sasuke Uchiha is one of the most important characters in the whole Naruto franchise. The antihero of the series, Sasuke, has been it all – the villain, the hero, and, finally, an antihero that beautifully complements Naruto’s heroic ideals. On top of that, Sasuke is also one of the strongest characters in the whole series. Many of his powers and abilities stem from the fact that he could use the Rinnegan, but could Sasuke Uchiha also be a Jinchūriki? In this article, we are going to tell you whether Sasuke Uchiha is a Jinchūriki in Naruto and what his Tailed Beast could be.
Sasuke Uchiha is not and has never been a Jinchūriki. The Jinchūriki is the possessor of a Tailed Beast and based on the history of the position, there is only one Jinchūriki per hidden village. Since Naruto has been the Jinchūriki of Konohagakure, possessing Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Beast, there was no way for Sasuke to be the Jinchūriki as well, but had he been, he would have been the possessor of Kurama as well, just like Madara Uchiha.
As you might have deduced, this article is going to be focused on the Tailed Beasts and their relationship to Sasuke Uchiha as a potential Jinchūriki. You’re going to find out what exactly happened to the nine Tailed Beasts and whether Sasuke was, at one point, a Jinchūriki. There might be some spoilers present here, so be careful, although not many.
Is Sasuke Uchiha a Jinchūriki?
Before we give you the proper answer, allow us first to explain who and what the Jinchūriki is. Feared because of the potential for destruction that each of them represents, but sought after for the same reasons, several Tailed Beasts have for several generations been the property of groups of ninjas who, thanks to techniques based on seals, lock them up in human beings whose lives are sacrificed to become living weapons. These hosts are called Jinchūriki.
They are often feared or hated just as much as the beasts whose powers and souls they collect and are excluded from normal social life. Many end up becoming inward-looking misanthropes. However, by learning to use it correctly and to channel this power, it is possible to become extremely powerful. If a Tailed Beast is extracted from its host, the host dies. Only members of the Uzumaki clan have bodies tough enough not to succumb.
In fact, the Jinchūriki becomes the Tailed Beast’s new body. When the human and his Bijū are united, it happens that the Tailed Beast inside perishes if the Jincūhriki does (although the beast revives again shortly after). Additionally, the Tailed Beast and Jincūhriki must co-exist because if the Tailed Beast is taken from its owner, that person dies.
But not all people can handle the power of these chakra beasts; in these cases, the beasts must be released or forced from the Jinchūriki’s body, which ends in his demise. This is because not all humans can handle the Tailed Beasts. This was the situation with a number of Kumogakure residents who lacked the strength to withstand the Hachibi’s amazing power.
However, it appears that the emotional aspect of the Jinchūriki interferes with the Tailed Beast’s control. However, it does happen that sometimes the Tailed Beasts do not like to be inside humans, and for that reason, when they have the opportunity, they try to take over of the body and mind of their vessel, allowing them to be free again. This is done to ensure the survival of the Bijus, and they typically grant them special powers or abilities. However, there are certain exceptions, like the Eight-Tails, who gets along well with his present host, B, and even gives him advice while they are engaged in combat.

Now that you know everything you need to know about the position of the Jinchūriki, we can summarize it once again and proceed with our answer. As you can see, there is a tradition set in the lore that one hidden village has one Jinchūriki, i.e., that the Jinchūriki is associated with the hidden village that a Tailed Beast is associated with. Sometimes the Tailed Beast protect the village and work together with the Jinchūriki, while at other times, the Tailed Beast does not care for its village and does not really like its Jinchūriki; this is, actually, what happened between Naruto and Kurama in the series.
Now, with one Tailed Beast being tied to one hidden village, this doesn’t really leave us with too many options here. Okay, it is true that Naruto had all the Tailed Beasts at one point and that the one village, one Tailed Beast rule is not set in stone, but under regular conditions, Kishimoto has respected this tradition and this means that we can apply it here as well.
Having said all of this, we can only confirm that Sasuke is not and has never been a Jinchūriki, nor will he ever become one. Namely, his home village, Konohagakure, already had a Jinchūriki, and that was none other than Naruto Uzumaki. Due to his parents’ sacrifice, Naruto became the Jinchūriki of Konohagakure and was in possession of Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Beast, who was initially not that happy to be possessed by Naruto, but that is a completely different story. This fact means that Sasuke could not be a Jinchūriki, as the position was – in Konoha’s case – already taken.
As for the future, with Kurama dying, there is basically no chance that Sasuke could become a future Jinchūriki, which is a situation that we have already discussed in relation to Boruto Uzumaki.
What Tailed Beast would Sasuke have?
Well, now that you know the story of the Jinchūriki and the Tailed Beats, you know that one hidden village has one Jinchūriki. Although this is not set in stone, it is a rule that Kishimoto has – mostly – respected throughout the series and we do not actually see a reason why Sasuke would be an exception here, and that is why – as we have said – Sasuke is not a Jinchūriki, nor was he ever one, and with Kurama’s death, there is no way that he could become one. But, had he been a Jinchūriki, what would his Tailed Beast be?
Well, since the Tailed Beast associated with Konohagakure was Kurama, the Nine-Tailed Beast made famous as being Naruto’s companion, we assume that had Sasuke become a Jinchūriki at some point, that he would also have been in control of Kurama and not some other Tailed Beast. Sure, Kishimoto might have changed it, but based on the well-established tradition, Sasuke would have been Kurama’s possessor, had he been chosen as a Jinchūriki in the series.
