Makima vs. the Gun Devil: Who Would Win in a Fight of Villains?
There are still a lot of unanswered questions when the Chainsaw Man manga and anime are concerned. A lot of them concern the actual balance of power between the Devils, the Fiends, and the Hybrids. From what it seems, there doesn’t seem to be any fixed system, which is why comparing these characters is always difficult and depends on interpretation. Still, that won’t stop us from doing it, as we have decided to compare Makima, the Control Devil and the hidden villain of Part 1, and the Gun Devil, Part 1’s second-most dangerous villain. Who would win? Keep reading to find out!
The Gun Devil would win in a fight against Makima.. And while Makima is dangerous because of her powers, which enable her to control others, on her own, she couldn’t do much against the Gun Devil. The Gun Devil is strong enough to resist Makima’s control and unless she had a Devil stronger than the Gun Devil under her control, there is no way that she could defeat the latter. The Gun Devil would be able to simply shoot her from afar like he did in the manga.
Now that you have the short version of the answer, the rest of the article is going to be divided into three sections, with the first two introducing the characters, their powers, and their abilities. In the end, we’re going to give our final verdict and explanation on why the Gun Devil would be able to defeat Makima in Chainsaw Man.
Makima and her powers
Makima is a mysterious woman who acts as the head of Public Safety Division 4, and takes Denji as her human pet. Makima is cunning, intelligent, and manipulative, and controls Denji by taking advantage of his attraction to her with promises of a relationship while threatening him with extermination in case of disobedience. For much of history, Makima’s goals are unknown and her good intentions are ambiguous. She has shown many abilities, which could be her default ability as a Control Devil, or the ability of another Devil she controls.
Makima has demonstrated her ability to exert authority over any person she deems to be beneath her, even coercing them into signing contracts with her or another Devil. The victim seems to lose their memories after falling under their control. Both hybrids and humans can use this power. She can summon her victims through a circuit attached to her body and use their power
It has been demonstrated that she is capable of using the abilities of the Angel Devil, Future Devil, Snake Devil, Punishment Devil, and Zombie Devil. Even the dead can be managed in this way. Three of the weapon hybrids in Makima’s squad—Reze, Guanxi, and Katana Meng—were formerly hostile individuals who now admired her. This shows that Makima is capable of both direct control over individuals as well as subtle personality changes.
Makima is seen using an invisible power to obliterate her prey. Makima needs a target’s name and a human sacrifice in order to use this technique. Makima tells the victim to say the target’s name as she forms a symbol with her hands. The target is then crushed when the victim passes away, leaving just blood splatter and their clothing. People nearby cover their eyes with black fabric when she uses this power.
When Makima glances at a target, it has been demonstrated that the victim dies, appearing to be crushed from the inside. She has also demonstrated the ability to destroy objects by pointing her index finger at them. This power is potent enough to instantaneously kill Power and launch the upgraded Chainsaw Man into space. She has also been seen to use her sword to slash off the heads of her prey at close to the mid-range range while the others around her cover their eyes with black fabric.
Although it is unknown how Makima obtained these skills, they are comparable to those of the Darkness Devil and Gun Devil. Even if the target is dead, Makima may effortlessly communicate her voice to them by placing her hand on their heads. This is how she has taken control of the Devils she is presently employed for.
It was clear that Makima could manage lots of rats and use them as transportation. Makima is able to use her abilities to immediately go to any area by making these rats cuddle up together to form a human shape. Makima frequently employs the hearing of birds, rats, insects, and lesser life forms; it’s probable that she has the capacity to hear discussions taking place in Hell itself.
She could listen in on the talk between Kishibe and Guanxi as well as that between Denji and Reze. Non-verbal communication, like writing on a piece of paper, can get around this skill. The Control Devil can enter into agreements with people for a fee like a Devil. She can compel others to enter into a deal with her because of her power over them. In reality, the Control Devil had an agreement with the Prime Minister of Japan in exchange for employment there. Makima’s contract with the latter was based on the condition that any fatal injury she sustains causes an equivalent disease or condition to strike a random Japanese citizen.
Although she had been shot in the back of the head, she later stood up without any obvious injuries. She claimed that she was just struck by a bullet, however, this claim seems improbable in light of the location of the gun when it was fired and the spot where the blood from the exit hole was found. The Gun Devil shot her in the head and later killed her. Prior to the Gun Devil’s attack, it is known that she was murdered 26 times.
The Control Devil must be able to replenish her health by ingesting blood because she is a devil. She has demonstrated the capacity to restore the arm that the Darkness Devil had broken, however, it is unclear if this power comes from her natural ability to regenerate or from her agreement with the Prime Minister. The Control Devil is an eternal Devil who can never die since he must respawn in Hell. She reincarnated as Nayuta in China after being devoured by Denji.
The Gun Devil and its powers
A principal antagonist of Part 1, the Gun Devil (or simply the Gun) is one of the most powerful Devils in the Chainsaw Man universe. Nearly the size of a giant, its head resembles an enormous pistol with a torso filled with human heads with two forearms resembling machine guns. To invoke him, the President of the United States gives him a year of each citizen of his country for an appearance of a few seconds.
During this short time, the Gun Devil uses its weapons and kills anything that has the misfortune to get in its way. The death toll is counted in thousands or even millions in some cases. Although he is the Devil to be slaughtered, it is revealed during the plot that the Gun has been mysteriously killed. Countries like the United States and China have shared their remains and use them as deterrents. In addition, if a Devil absorbs a piece of the Gun Devil, similar to a ball, its power increased ten times. The Devil Hunters thereby attempt to reunite its parts, which attract each other and locate the Gun Devil to eradicate it permanently.
The Gun Devil is extraordinarily quick and was able to kill 1.2 million people in different nations worldwide in just five minutes. It moved with such speed that parts of its flesh burnt off the body. The Gun Devil can quickly and accurately fire bullets from a variety of weapons that are a part of its body.
He can shoot a bullet through the heart of every living thing born in the months of January, February, March, May, June, August, September, and November, or December, as well as through the head of every adult male within a radius of about 1,000 meters, every child up to the age of 12, and every living thing within a radius of about 1,500 meters.
The Gun Devil can discard his own flesh, which resembles bullets due to its own speed and power. When Devils of any kind consume pieces of the Gun Devil’s flesh, the Gun Devil’s power is greatly increased. These bullet parts attract each other and fuse together when touched and will attempt to rejoin the Gun Devil’s main body to regenerate.
As Makima said, Gun Devil’s body is currently separated into several parts and remains in an unconscious state. The United States possesses twenty percent of his body, twenty-eight percent is possessed by the Soviet Union, eleven by China, four by other countries, and the remaining thirty-seven are in the hands of Devils from all over the world like pieces of meat.
Makima vs. the Gun Devil: Who would win?
And now for the most important and interesting section of our article – the analysis. Here, we are going to use what we have found out about these two characters and analyze how all these facts would (or would not) help them in a fight against each other. Let us continue.
As we have said, the difference between individual Devils in Chainsaw Man is difficult if not impossible to ascertain. There doesn’t seem to be any logical scale and these characters are difficult to evaluate. Most of the comparisons are done via instinct, with little evidence from the canon material present for use. This is why our answer is based on our assumptions, rather than precise evidence.
The first and only relevant thing related to Makima is that, by herself, she is not that powerful. Sure, her control abilities are amazing, but they do not work on beings that are Makima’s equals or that are superior to her. Were the Gun Devil such an example, Makima would’ve eliminated it a long time ago without much effort. This means that Makima cannot establish control over the Gun Devil, which – in turn – means that she cannot use her only major power in this battle.
On the other hand, the Gun Devil is a powerhouse Devil whose ability to kill is truly incredible and horrific. It can simply position itself somewhere and kill an incredible amount of people (based on any criteria) from an incredible distance; on top of that, the destructive power of his shots is such that it will cause collateral damage as well. This is why the Gun Devil is so dangerous and, along with his regenerating abilities, one of the most feared Devils in the whole series.
The Gun Devil was actually able to kill Makima and she only survived thanks to her previous contracts. But, the Gun Devil has proven himself capable of eliminating Makima, whereas she was not able to do much against him directly. Okay, Makima would stand a chance against the Gun Devil if she had one or more powerful Fiends and Devils under contract with her, but this is a very big if and would guarantee Makima’s victory. This is, actually, the only way that Makima would even stand a chance at winning; without these additions, she wouldn’t even be a serious opponent for the Gun Devil.
On the other hand, the Gun Devil can harm and kill Makima however and whenever he wants, even when he is not at 100% of his powers. At 100%, Makima would probably not stand a chance, as there is no Devil more powerful than the Gun Devil that Makima could control with her abilities. This is why we’re practically certain that the Gun Devil would be able to defeat Makima in a direct clash, and why our answer to this question is as it is. Makima is powerful, but she is not as strong, whereas the Gun Devil is a powerhouse monster that would get rid of Makima quickly; Makima survived their encounter with more luck than anything else and that fact is reflected in our answer as well.
