‘The Boys’: All 21 LGBTQ Characters in Shows & Comics
‘The Boys’ is one highly controversial TV show that needs no introduction. Based on the popular comic series of the same name that ironizes superhero franchises, it has truly an array of colorful characters. And even though most storylines in the comics and scenes in the show can be somewhat over the top, straight-up gory, and borderline disgusting, one aspect of the TV show (and comics) has been consistently praised: its LGBTQ representation. ‘The Boys’ universe features different types of sexualities and gender expressions, even more so with the spinoff ‘Gen V,’ and we decided to take a look at all these characters; some are pretty much self-explanatory, and some might surprise you. Let’s go.
1. Queen Maeve (Bisexual)
Queen Maeve’s sexual orientation wasn’t just a token representation; it played a huge part in her overall storyline and was the main reason why she ultimately went rogue on Homelander. Before she was a superhero, Queen Maeve tried to live her life as a regular human and, as such, had a regular romancer, and this is how she met and fell in love with Elena, the love of her life. But eventually, Queen Maeve joined the Seven, and depravity started changing her.
Maeve eventually started dating Homelander and started drinking. When she figured out the true nature of Homelander, the two broke up, but Homelander still respected, and she was able to use their past relationship to leverage it in times when Homelander would go absolutely berserk and pose a threat to people that Maeve either cared about or loved. When Homelander figured out that Maeve is bisexual and figured out that she is in love with Elena, she outed them on national TV, which caused further damage to Maeve’s rejuvenated relationship with Elena.
Maeve starts training to defeat Homelander, knowing that otherwise, she will never know peace with her partner, and Elena will never be safe unless Homelander thinks that Maeve is dead. Maeve also had a one-time fling with Butcher.
2. Elena (Bisexual)
Elena is not a supe but is an important character in Queen Maeve’s story. When the plane footage was leaked to the public, Elena was once again disgusted with Queen Maeve and decided to put their relationship on pause. However, the sacrifice that Maeve makes to protect her and ensure them a semblance of normal life convinces Elena to give her a third chance. Both of them only wanted to live a normal and quiet life somewhere far away from Homelander.
3. Homelander (Bisexual)
This might surprise fans who only watched the show, but yes, in the comics, Homelander is bisexual. Remember Herogasm? Well, during the Herogasm in the comics, Homelander tricks Soldier Boy into sleeping with him, and Soldier Boy reluctantly does so in the hopes of getting on Homelander’s good side and eventually bringing him closer to the Seven.
This scene wouldn’t work so well in the show because it was eventually revealed that Soldier Boy is actually Homelander’s father. Besides, in the show, it seems that Homelander is completely straight because he is only shown having relationships with other women; Queen Maeve, Madelyn Stillwell, Stormfront, and Butcher’s wife are only the ones we know about unless you count those little games he had with Doppelganger.
4. Soldier Boy (Bisexual)
Soldier Boy’s personality in the comics is drastically different than the one we saw in the TV show, and so is his sexuality. Solider’s Boy’s sexuality in the comics was somewhat forced by Homelander, but in the show, he was seen mostly being interested in women.
5. Tek Knight (Pansexual / Objectophilia)
Well, this is an interesting one. Tek Knight is a mash of different notable characters from both Marvel and DC comics, primarily Iron Man and Batman, and even though Tek Knight started innocent enough in the original comics, he ended up with a weird “trademark” as well. Over the course of his career, Tek Knight developed some kind of mental disorder that caused him to be attracted to pretty much anything, both living and non-living inanimate objects. Most of his sexuality is highly illegal, I would bet, however.
One of the most notable Tek Knight stories is the one in which he has sex with an Asteroid in order to save Earth from being destroyed by it. But as it turns out, the guy hallucinated everything, and the source of his disorder was actually a giant tumor messing with his brain. Tek Knight appeared in a live-action ‘Gen V’ show, and he was eventually shooed off campus by being blackmailed with a tape of him having sex with inanimate objects, so it is a pretty faithful adaptation.
6. PG (Lesbian)
PG never appeared in the show. She is a comics-only character so far but is closely connected to Queen Maeve. PG and Queen Marve were once close associates and often engaged in all-female orgies alongside Invisi-Lass and Shehemoth. However, their camaraderie appeared to have soured by the events of ‘The Boys: Herogasm,’ with Queen Maeve expressing disapproval of PG to Starlight.
7. Big Game (Bisexual)
Big Game also might sound unfamiliar to show-only fans since he hasn’t appeared in the show yet. He was once a public icon in the super community and really took care of his public image, but in his private life, altruism held little interest for him. He often indulged in drugs and often attended bisexual orgies with fellow teammates. He was also a closeted bisexual because even though the team was mostly liberal in nature and preached openness and equality, being openly bisexual would still take a large chunk of his fan base. He was mostly sexually associated with Shout Out and Dogknott.
At one point, Big Game got caught on photos engaging in disturbing behavior to create misdirection and keep his sexuality from going out in public. He leaked the information that Shout Out was gay along with Dogknott.
8. Dogknott (Gay)
Dogknott was based on Marvel’s Beast, and he was also part of a “gay” group that regularly engaged in orgies along with Big Game and Shout Out. Big Game and Dogknott unanimously voted to expose Shout Out as gay to save their own asses.
9. Ezekiel (Gay)
Ezekiel is better known to fans of the show as a Christian Fundamentalist type of Supe that Vought used to spread propaganda among hardcore Catholics and buy off that part of the fanbase. And while Ezekiel was spreading fundamentalist and traditional values, even going as far as to denounce homosexuality, he was secretly involved in orgies with men, something that Hughie at one point tried to use against him.
10. Invisi-Lass (Bisexual)
Invisi-Lass, from the comics, was often seen taking part in either all-female orgies along with Queen Maeve or taking part in orgies with the rest of her team members.
11. Doppelganger (Bisexual)
Doppelganger was a minor character in the show, but most fans remember him as that creepy guy who could shapeshift into pretty much anyone. Over the course of his appearances, he was seen engaging in sexual relations with Senator Calhoun, and after Stillwell was murdered by Homelander, he would often take her form and perform oral sex on Homelander.
12. John Godolkin (Bisexual)
John Godolkin was a parody of Charles Xavier and the leader of G-Men. Not much is known about his personality except for the fact that he was an extremely twisted and evil individual, often raping his wards and engaging in several disturbing behaviors. He was also allegedly a pedophile.
13. Popclaw (Bisexual)
Popclaw, in the show, was seen having a romantic relationship with A-Train; however, in the comics, she was often indulging in bisexual orgies with the rest of the supes, including all-female orgies with Queen Maeve.
14. Shehemoth (Bisexual)
Shehemoth was part of the aforementioned all-female orgies along with Queen Maeve, Popclaw and Invisi-Lass. She was known for her insatiable sexual appetite.
15. Shout Out (Gay)
Shout Out was part of the bisexual clique along with Big Game and Dogknott. The trio eventually voted to out him as a gay man to keep their good standing with their fans.
16. Termite (Bisexual)
Termite’s first appearance in the show was one of the most shocking scenes. We can all remember the scene when Termite used his superpower, entered his partner (quite literally), and accidentally sneezed. This pretty much sums up his entire deal; like most of the supes, he is a fetishist and bisexual man who often uses his ability to shrink himself to crawl up sex organs, and he doesn’t discriminate according to gender either, as we’ve seen him with both men and women.
17. The Legend (Bisexual)
Before Madelyn Stillwell, there was The Legend. He previously held the position of working with supes and covering up their horrific deeds. On multiple occasions, The Legend commented on their deranged behavior. This didn’t stop him, however, from taking part in their orgies once in a while.
18. Jay (Gay)
Jay is a pretty minor character and a non-super, but he is kind of an honorable mention on this list due to being a close friend of Frenchie and Cherie before Frenchie got involved with Butcher.
19. Andre Anderson (Bisexual)
Andre Anderson is an original character and one of the main characters of ‘The Boys’ spinoff ‘Gen V.’ Although we’ve seen Andre flirting with women only (Marie, Cate), his Wiki page states that he is apparently bisexual.
20. Jordan Li (Bisexual / Genderfluid)
Jordan Li took their gender expression and sexual orientation to another level as they have a unique superpower of changing their gender at will. Depending on whether Jordan is male or female, there is a different set of superpowers involved in it all. Since Jordan is Genderfluid, so is their sexuality. We’ve seen Jordan engaging in sexual relations both with men and women, but their most significant relationship was by far with Marie.
21. Marie Moreau (Bisexual)
Marie Moreau and Jordan Li started off on the wrong foot when Marie took the credit for stopping Golden Boy’s rampage when, in reality, it was Jordan Li all along. Their relationship eventually grew from antagonistic to beneficial when they figured out that they were on the same side and Vought was abusing all of them. The attraction took off pretty soon after that, and Marie was seemingly attracted to both Jordan Li’s female and male forms.
When the two hooked up for the first time, they were both confused regarding their feelings, and Marie didn’t really know where she stood with Jordan Li. They eventually smoothed things out, but the first season ended up on a pretty grim note with both Jordan Li and Marie currently in captivity somewhere within the Woods, and we will most likely see their relationship grow further in the fourth season of ‘The Boys.’
21. Maverick (Pansexual)
Maverick is Translucent’s son, and you know how the old saying goes: the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and that is definitely true when it comes to sexual deviants in Maverick’s family. Maverick has a nasty tendency, like his father, to spy on people while he is innocent, and he doesn’t discriminate based on gender as well. There’s also his strange and confusing relationship with Sloane, a seemingly superpowered Alpaca.
And that’s pretty much it. Have someone to add to the list? Let us know in the comments below!
