Anime characters appear in all shapes and sizes. They also appear under a variety of names. Some anime characters have first and last names; some have nicknames, and some have… well, they are always known as something. In that aspect, it is important to remember all of these names and that is why we have decided to bring you this list. This list is going to contain a list of anime characters that start with the letter R. They will be sorted alphabetically by the names they are known best, whether it is their first name, last name, or their nickname.

1. Raditz (Dragon Ball)

In the series, before coming to Earth, Raditz’s ki or fighting power was 1,200 without using his full strength. Raditz’s maximum power level is 1,500 according to a double issue of Weekly Shonen Jump in 1989, Daizenshuu 7, and the video games Dragon Ball Z: Kyōshū! Saiyan and Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiya Densetsu. When he transforms into a giant ape, his power is multiplied x10, being 15,000.

2. Ram (Re:Zero)

Ram is a female oni with pink hair and eyes, serving as a servant alongside her twin sister, Rem, at Roswaal mansion. While she is less competent and enthusiastic about her chores and cooking compared to Rem, Ram has a colder and more distant personality. Despite the taboo against twins in their clan, the sisters were spared due to Ram’s exceptional talents as a child prodigy. Unfortunately, Ram lost her powers after her horn was cut off during an attack on their village by the Cult of the Witch. This event weakened her, making her highly dependent on her younger sister.

3. Ranma Saotome (Ranma ½)

Ranma Saotome is the protagonist of the series, a 16-year-old martial artist who practices with his father as his master. Despite his outward frivolity and insolence, Ranma conceals real sensitivity and kindness behind a tough facade. Due to falling into one of the 109 cursed springs at Jusenkyô, he transforms into a girl when exposed to cold water. Though this situation could have been cured by diving into the “Nannichuan” during their training, Ranma and his father chose to continue training with their dual appearances.

4. Raptor, Rex (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Rex Raptor is one of Joey’s early opponents; his deck is made up of dinosaur and dragon-type monsters, including the Red-Eyes Black Dragon. Hence his nickname, “Tamer of Dinosaurs.” He has long brown hair with a purple tuft covered in a red cap bearing his initials D.R. (Dinosaur Ryuzaki). At the start of the first series, he was the runner-up in the regional tournament, defeated in the final by Weevil.

5. Recoome (Dragon Ball Z)

Recoome is an alien who has the appearance of a tall and surprisingly muscular human. He belongs to the Ginyu Special Forces and works for Emperor Frieza.

6. Rei Ayanami (Neon Genesis Evangelion)

Rei Ayanami is designated as the First Children 9 pilot of EVA-0017. Her date of birth is unknown. Rei Ayanami is a very introverted, taciturn, and shy girl. Hideaki Anno describes Rei as a girl who is aware that in the event of her death someone else will replace her, and therefore does not particularly appreciate her life.

7. Rei Hino / Sailor Mars (Sailor Moon)

Sailor Mars is a passionate and reckless warrior who commands the power of fire. In the ancient Silver Millennium, she was under Princess Serenity’s care and was also the princess of the planet Mars, residing in Phobos-Deimos Castle. During the conflict between the Selenites and Terrans, orchestrated by Queen Beryl and Metallia, Sailor Mars perishes. Queen Serenity later sends her soul to Earth for reincarnation in the future.

8. Reiss, Historia (Attack on Titan)

Historia Reiss, initially known as Christa Lenz, is a member of the 104th Training Corps, ranking tenth in her class. She appears gentle and selfless, but it’s later revealed that Christa is a facade for Historia, who is a more complex and selfish individual. Historia is the illegitimate daughter of Rod Reiss, a member of the royal family, and a maid. Despite being the true heir to the throne, she was cast aside and confined to a farm with her grandparents and mother. Her feelings of inferiority stem from neglect by her father and a lack of understanding from her mother. Historia forms a deep bond with Ymir and her sister Frieda.

9. Rem (Re:Zero)

Rem is an oni with blue hair and eyes, the younger twin sister of Ram. Both work as servants at Roswaal Manor, with Rem excelling in chores and cooking compared to her sister. Rem possesses a warm and friendly personality, and unlike Ram, she still has her horn, preserving all her powers.

10. Rengoku, Kyojuro (Demon Slayer)

Kyojuro was the eldest son of the Rengoku family. Shortly after coming of age, Kyojuro succeeds his father as the Flame Hashira after he unexpectedly retires. He tragically dies while fighting his bitter rival, Akaza. During the fierce battle, both opponents displayed immense powers and used powerful attacks, leaving Kyojuro badly injured by multiple cuts and damaged organs on his body, and Akaza fully recovered from the attacks thanks to his regeneration.

11. Riko (Made in Abyss)

Rico is an energetic 12-year-old who wants to emulate her mother, a legendary cavewoman named Lisa, who disappeared in the Abyss ten years ago. Rico is early in history a novice in training at the Bercello orphanage. As an apprentice, she has a red whistle.

Her eyes were damaged when her mother lifted her up from the Abyss when she was born. Thus, despite normal vision, she can only look at the surrounding world through special glasses, otherwise, she suffers from headaches.

12. Ritchie (Pokémon)

Ritchie, also known as Hiroshi in Japan, is a recurring character in the Pokémon anime and a rival of Ash Ketchum. He first appears in “A Friend In Deed,” where he quickly befriends Ash and assists in resolving a situation involving Team Rocket. Despite their friendship, they face each other in the Indigo Plateau Conference, leading to Ritchie’s victory when Ash’s Charizard refuses to fight.

13. Rize Kamishiro (Tokyo Ghoul)

Rize Kamishiro is a scaly type ghoul, also called “The Glutton” for her appetite. She is from the 11th but moved to the 20th six months before her death. At the start of the series, she attacks Ken Kaneki, a student in love with her whom she manipulates to be able to devour him. During the attack, beams fall on her and kill her.

His organs are transplanted onto Ken Kaneki, which transforms him into a half-man, half-ghoul. Rize Kamishiro is a powerful, formidable and particularly sadistic ghoul, who takes pleasure in using her charms to trap prey and look down on others.

14. Rob Lucci (One Piece)

Rob Lucci is the strongest member of the former CP9, a member of the CP0 and belongs to the bodyguard of the world aristocrats. They were unfortunately killed by Scar, who had just regained consciousness after receiving their treatment, gone completely mad when instead of his arm he saw his brother’s.

18. Ross, Maria (Fullmetal Alchemist)

Second Lieutenant Maria Ross is a soldier under Commander Armstrong’s command, tasked with protecting the Elric brothers alongside Denny Broch. Despite her difficulties adhering to military protocols, she is skilled at shooting. Maria is wrongly accused of murdering Maes Hughes when Envy impersonates her, leading to suspicions from Colonel Mustang’s team. To escape persecution, she collaborates with Barry the Chopper, fakes her death, and goes into hiding. Extradited to Xing, Maria later returns to repay her debt to Colonel Mustang by aiding his team during a coup. In the end, a photo shows her alongside Havoc, hinting at her rehabilitation. The series doesn’t specify her fate after these events.

19. Ruri Tsukiyono (Digimon Ghost Game)

Ruri is a first-year junior high school student attending a combined middle and high school for girls. She is sociable and has many friends. She looks for things that suit her tastes and she wants to poke her nose into everything. In addition, she plays the piano, which Angoramon loves to listen to and runs a social network related to the occult. Although she is an outgoing girl who is skilled and can do just about anything, she actually struggles to find the things she deems appropriate and therefore she gets bored.

20. Ryūk (Death Note)

Ryūk is a death god (Shinigami) who is deeply bored in the world of the death gods. Possessing two Death Note, he drops one in the human world in an attempt to be entertained. He follows Light everywhere (because he is the new owner of the Death Note and Ryūk must follow him until Light’s death) but remains neutral in relation to events.
