We say was because, sadly, Beam died on the pages of Chainsaw Man, and this article is going to be dedicated to his death, as we are going to tell you what happened to him.

Beam met his end during the fight with the Darkness Devil. At one point during the fight, the Darkness Devil simply began to massacre everyone. Moments before the Darkness Devil picks him as his target and rips Beam to pieces, killing him instantaneously, he pulls the cord on Denji’s chainsaw to revive him and asks him to grant his desire.

The remainder of this article will give you a detailed overview of Beam’s fate and his final clash against Darkness Devil. You already know what happened and how it happened, so we are just going to bring you the details, so you know the whole context. Be careful, though, as the article is going to contain a lot of spoilers, so if you don’t know all the details, be careful how you approach the text.

Is Beam dead in Chainsaw Man?

Beam is among the Special Division 4 fighters who are tasked with invading Akane Sawatari’s hideout. He emerges from the underground wall and plunges into the herd of zombies, partially transforming his head into that of a shark and killing several of them with ease. He almost accidentally bites through the Violence Fiend but takes a punch from him and reverts to his original self.

After Power drinks too much blood in the attack on Akane Sawatari’s hideout and has to be temporarily put away, Beam is assigned to be Denji’s partner at his request. He is very happy to be Denji’s partner and continually calls him Mr. Chainsaw as Makima introduces him to Denji.

When they are out on patrol, he swims beside Denji and enjoys the rain very much. He is warned by Denji to stay out of sight or else he will make trouble. When Reze assaults Denji during their date, she intervenes to save him. Reze is identified as the Bomb Devil by Reze’s odor as soon as he leaps in with Denji. Reze changes and catches up with him and Denji quite quickly. He tries to avoid his blows but to no avail. His blasts knock him back.

She quickly defeats him with a point-blank blast as he tries to assault her using her shark head attack. Reze immediately escapes with Denji while being short-sidetracked by a bunch of non-professional Devil Hunters before she can kill him. She brings Denji to a training facility for the 2nd Anti-Devil Division and tells Aki about the Bomb Devil, claiming to be an ally of the Gun Devil. Beam says he can’t explain it because Makima would kill him when Aki asks how he knows this. Beam alerts Aki of Reze’s arrival as soon as she emerges outside the structure. They attempt to flee in their car, but Reze is fast to catch up with them.

Reze defeats Denji, but Beam and the Angel Devil feed him blood to revive him. Beam describes how the Chainsaw Devil once moved by utilizing his saw chain to move through buildings. Instead of utilizing the reins as Beam suggested, Denji has Beam change into his full shark form and mounts him. They advance to engage Reze and the Typhon Devil in a joint assault.

Reze is hurt, but he heals after consuming blood, and they are able to kill the Typhoon Devil by rushing inside it and killing it. Beam takes the brunt of Reze’s incapacitating attack after swallowing Denji inside his jaws so that he can protect him from Reze’s onslaught from above. Beam follows Denji into the ocean after he leaps in to fight Reze and ultimately brings them both to the beach to save them. Denji then pleads with Beam to activate his motor so that he can be healed as Reze snaps Denji’s neck and drives off.

Beam assists Makima and Princi in tidying up a variety of Santa Claus-controlled dolls. Beam happily accepts Makima’s request to go aid Denji and says that he will keep tidying up the mess. He shows up at the department store where the fight is occurring and uses his giant shark head to strike Denji in the back to free her from Long’s hold. He begs her not to approach “Mr. Chainsaw” before he and Denji go. Beam warns Denji not to use his chainsaws so he can preserve his blood, but as he flees, he comes across a doll’s dead body.

While pointing out her carelessness, Denji winces as he steps on a nail, which summons the Curse Devil and causes Denji to be lifted up and begin bleeding heavily. At that moment, Tolka, who had been hiding in the vicinity, comes out and lands a kick on Beam’s face as he watches this in disbelief. When Tolka’s teacher transforms him into an ideal doll and calls the Hell Devil, Beam is rendered unconscious by the attack of Tolka and is carried to Hell alongside all the others in the department store. Beam sees the Darkness Devil when he awakens, and when he approaches the other Devils, they all become terrified. Beam’s arms are severed when the Darkness Devil shows there, along with those of everyone else.

Beam stands up and feeds Denji blood from his stump as the Darkness Devils start to massacre all the present humans and Devils. Moments before the Darkness Devil points at him and rips Beam to pieces, killing him instantaneously, he pulls the cord on Denji’s chainsaw to revive him and asks him to grant his desire.

Who killed Beam?

As the previous s section stated, Beam was ultimately killed by the Darkness Devil. Beam assists Makima and Prinz in tidying up a variety of Santa Claus-controlled dolls. Beam happily accepts Makima’s request to go aid Denji and says that he will keep tidying up the mess. He shows up at the department store where the fight is occurring and uses his giant shark head to strike Denji in the back to free her from Long’s hold. Beam is rendered unconscious by the attack of Tolka and is carried to Hell alongside all the others in the department store.

When Beam wakes up, he sees the Darkness Devil, and when he approaches the other Devils, they all freeze in fear. When the Darkness Devil appears, Beam’s arms are severed along with those of everyone else. As the Darkness Devils begin to kill all the present humans and Devils, Beam gets up and starts feeding Denji blood from his stump. Beam grabs the cord on Denji’s chainsaw to revive him and begs him to grant his wish just as the Darkness Devil points at him and tears him to pieces, instantly murdering him.

Will Beam be back in Chainsaw Man?

The future of the Chainsaw Man manga is currently unknown, so we don’t have a definitive answer to this question. Namely, Beam is definitely dead and since he was never a Devil, it means that he cannot be resurrected in that way. Seeing how the story has moved on, such a turn of events made Beam, as a character, quite redundant. But, it wouldn’t be strange for such an interesting character – as Beam did play a significant role in Denji’s life – to make a return, as it is something relatively common in the world of anime and manga.

Still, we don’t know how much Chainsaw Man is going to follow shonen traditions, which is we cannot give you a definitive answer. As things stand now, Beam won’t be coming back, but we cannot rule it out (even if it’s just in the form of a flashback).
