Throughout Gojo’s Past Arc and the Shibuya Incident Arc of the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, one of the most intriguing things has been the connection between Toji and Megumi Fushiguro. It is even more important to explain Toji’s relationship with Megumi because he is one of the most intriguing characters in the series, and despite being a villain, he is quite popular. Now, this article won’t focus on their relationship specifically. Still, it will explain a shared moment in the series when Toji isolated Megumi from the others and had a brief and bittersweet conversation with him. Why? Well, keep reading to find out.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Megumi Fushiguro tried to use his Domain to help his allies escape Dagon’s Domain. Still, Toji used that to enter the Domain and brutally murder and exorcise Dagon, thereby freeing them from the Domain.
  • Before Jogo came to avenge Dagon, Toji took Megumi to a separate location, a street in Shibuya, where the two of them ended up being completely alone and could have a talk.
  • And while Megumi was vary of the person who was – unknowingly to him – his father, Toji simply commended his son for not becoming a Zenin, after which he committed suicide using the Playful Cloud.

Toji helped defeat Dagon and then isolated Megumi in Shibuya

The story of Megumi and Toji starts with the battle against Dagon. Namely, Dagon initially trapped Naobito, Maki, and Nanami in his Domain. Still, Megumi saw it from the outside, and he could use his Domain to counter it briefly, which created a large enough opening for Megumi to enter the Domain from the outside. This annulled Dagon’s sure-hit rule, but it wasn’t enough to defeat him.

Not long after that happened, Megumi informed Nanami that they needed to flee when he discovered what was happening. He would devise a way for them to get out, and then all three would flee with Megumi, putting them back on an equal footing.

When Nanami gathered them around Megumi, Dagon realized they attempted to flee rather than defend him. He was right to assume that and wanted to assault them, but before anything could happen, Toji abruptly walked through the gap Megumi had made.

Dagon initially believed he would win because Toji lacked cursed energy, but he quickly discovered that Toji was incredibly strong and unsure how or why. Dagon attempted to flee after realizing he was in a difficult situation, but Naobito stopped him. Toji then struck the afflicted spirit with Playful Cloud, stabbing him. He didn’t kill him at first, but he stabbed him so many times that the Domain just crumbled. Moments later, Dagon simply withered away, as Toji was able to exorcise him effectively and kill him quickly. As the Domain crumbled, the four of them observed Toji, not knowing whether he was a friend or foe, but Toji was simply focused on Megumi and no one else.

In the blink of an eye, Megumi found himself falling, glass all around him, and soon landed on an empty street in Shibuya. As Maki called out his name and was soon attacked by Jogo, Megumi was wondering what had happened, but he soon realized that it was all Toji’s doing. Now, at that moment, he had no clue who Toji was. He had forgotten about him, and he had no clue what he looked like since he had last seen him when he was an infant. On the other hand, Toji wasn’t all that talkative, as he was in a special state.

He had been revived thanks to Ogami’s Technique. While her technique wasn’t eternal, Toji did not drain any cursed energy from his vessel as he had none, so he simply used it until it crumbled. Toji turned into a killing puppet that acted almost solely upon instinct. Still, Toji kept enough reason to recognize Megumi and to be able to isolate him from the others. He did not want to fight his son – in fact, he was proud of him.

He commended Megumi for not becoming a Zenin, as Toji hated his family and, with a smile on his face, left his confused son once again, using the Playful Cloud to kill himself by piercing his skull. So yes, Toji isolated Megumi to praise him and say one final goodbye, knowing that his son had not disappointed him.
