As we all know, Boruto continued the story of Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto. Now, while many of the original series’s characters remained, Boruto also introduced a plethora of new characters that have taken over the protagonist roles from the “old” generation. In this article, we will focus on the protagonist trio of the “next generation” portrayed in Boruto, which are Boruto Uzumaki, Sarada Uchiha, and Mitsuki. In this article, we will compare the three of them to determine the strongest shinobi among them.

Currently, Boruto Uzumaki is undoubtedly the strongest protagonist, as he has the most diverse set of powers and the most powerful chakra. Mitsuki is currently in second place because he can activate Sage Mode and has access to other powers as well. Sarada has the clear potential to surpass Mitsuki in the future (and she probably will), but she is still growing and is thus the least powerful of the three.

The rest of this article will further elaborate on the above-given answer, as we will compare Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki in more detail. Through several categories, you will see who the stronger of the three is and why our answer is like it is, i.e., why Boruto is stronger than both of them, as well as why Mitsuki is currently stronger than Sarada.

Chakra and physical powers

Inheriting his father’s vast chakra reserves, Boruto can create four shadow clones even after having much of his chakra absorbed into himself. He also heavily inherited the power of the Ōtsutsuki, and because he possesses Byakugan user blood, he was able to communicate with the deceased spirit of Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki. His chakra control is notably advanced. He is a powerful Rasengan user, as he could perform one-handed mudras and use the Rasengan effectively after only a few days of training before instinctively refining and improving the technique.

Boruto is particularly quick, able to quickly slip past his opponents unnoticed. Boruto was shown to be quite skilled in taijutsu, able to mount relentless assaults through coordinated strikes from each of his limbs. As a descendant of the Hyūga clan, he learned the basic use of Jūken, though without a Byakugan he could not target an enemy’s tenketsu. He also possesses considerable strength, capable of delivering strikes powerful enough to shatter the ground.

Which Chakra Natures Can Boruto Use?

Sarada has strong chakra because she is an Uchiha. Sarada inherited her mother’s adept chakra management. She could already collect chakra in her fists and release it upon contact with a target to have terrible effects, like shattering the earth or knocking an opponent far away, before she graduated from the Academy. She nearly collapsed due to overusing her Sharingan during a fight with Chōchō. Therefore, her reserves appear to be low. Sarada had more time with her Sharingan during the battle with the New Seven Swordsmen of the Mist.

Boruto vs Mitsuki: Who Is Stronger? What Happened in the Manga?

A clone of Orochimaru, Mitsuki has an extremely high chakra level for his age, enough to reach Sage Mode. He is extremely fast and agile, able to dodge attacks and redirect them against the enemy. Mitsuki’s fighting style is very advanced in Taijutsu and is shown to be very fluid and graceful. He can seamlessly slip through his opponent’s defenses and strike flexibly. His specialty seems to be body grabs and chokeholds that resemble a snake. He could also hold his own in a brief melee against Suigetsu Hōzuki.

There is absolutely no doubt that Boruto’s chakra reserves are the most potent here. As for Mitsuki, he is currently more capable with his chakra than Sarada, which is why we have distributed the points as follows:

Points: Boruto 2, Sarada 0, Mitsuki 1

Ninjutsu

Before entering the Academy, Boruto could create several shadow clones, able to coordinate his attacks with his clones to put in difficulty a chûnin or even a jônin. Initially, Boruto needed his clones to be within sight for them to work. He also learned various sexy techniques from his father. Though initially unsuccessful when learning the Rasengan, Boruto later learned how to create a scaled-down version between two hands under Konohamaru’s guidance, then grow it to normal size using a single hand.

When he went to the Ryūchi Cave, he signed a contract with Garaga, allowing him to summon the giant serpent whenever he wished. Likewise, he also formed a kinship with snakes, able to befriend any snake to help him. He can also perform cooperative ninjutsu and fūinjutsu, using both to restrict a person’s movements and increase attack power alongside other users at his side.

Sarada Training

Sarada is quite skilled when Nature Transformations are concerned since, already from a young age, she was capable of mastering up to three elements. This is a feat of considerable level since mastering two or more natures is only common among Jōnin. She controls the nature of fire, with which she can expel powerful and fiery balls of fire to incinerate her opponent; having copied a considerable amount of Buntan Kurosaki’s techniques, she also mastered control over thunder; and finally, the Yin nature with which she can perform illusions to hypnotize her opponents.

Mitsuki’s main ability is to extend his limbs by using his Chakra, using them as weapons or to restrict movements. Mitsuki also possesses techniques that use snakes, like his father Orochimaru. He can suddenly draw snakes from his sleeves to constrict and inject poison into his opponents, as well as create snakes that track targets and then become clones of himself. He possesses great sensory abilities, being able to detect the presence of enemies in the area.

Boruto triumphs in this category, but unlike the previous one, Sarada’s diverse set of powers and techniques gives her an advantage in this category.

Points: Boruto 4, Sarada 1, Mitsuki 1

Dōjutsu / Senjutsu

At the age of eight, Boruto began to unconsciously activate the Jōgan in his right eye, prompted by a prophetic dream given by Toneri Ōtsutsuki and the appearance of Nue. Originally, the eye was instinctively only activated in times of great threat, as it lay dormant for a long time until facing Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki.

However, at age 16, he could activate it by his own will. This dōjutsu allows him to sense things usually invisible to the naked eye. He can perceive chakra flow, allowing Boruto to see visible changes in his chakra and track a target through his chakra. He can also see the circulatory chakra system and its key points and see through the invisible barriers that connect dimensions.

Mitsuki Senninka HD

When Sarada was 11 years old, the pleasure of finally seeing her father after a long absence caused her one-tomoe Sharingan in each eye to activate. She rapidly adjusted to his enhanced visual acuity as she had just awoken him, making it easier to predict danger, respond quickly, and see chakra threads.

She can effectively use genjutsu with it to drive them away. Sarada can mimic the mudras of foes while watching them use a technique so she can employ it concurrently with the original user. She awoke her Sharingan three tomoe shortly after participating in the Chūnin Exams. She awoke her two-tomoe Sharingan in the anime during her second battle with Deepa while on a mission in the Land of Valleys.

Mitsuki possesses the ability to use the Sage Transformation, using it to achieve Sage Mode. However, he is able to access her subconsciously. In the anime, he can access it at will. Upon entering this state, he gains ethereal Chakra snakes around his body, allowing it to increase his attack range and grow a horn in the center of his forehead.

His hair begins to wave constantly, and he gains heavy black pigmentation around his nose and eyes, which turn yellow. His strength increases, as does his speed, snatching a scroll from Orochimaru’s hands without Orochimaru even noticing him. In the anime, he uses a version of this mode that lacks the horn and pigmentation.

Boruto’s Jōgan is a category of its own, which is why Boruto wins this one as well. On the other hand, Sarada would have won against Mitsuki had her Dōjutsu been developed enough, but she only has the potential and not the actual skill. In contrast, Mitsuki can achieve the powerful Sage Mode, we have decided to give Mitsuki the decisive point.

Points: Boruto 6, Sarada 2, Mitsuki 3

The best among the trio – Boruto, Sarada, or Mitsuki?

As you can see from our category-by-category analysis, it is perfectly clear that Boruto is the strongest protagonist among the three main ones. He has excellent chakra reserves and seriously dangerous skills and techniques, so he is on top. On the other hand, as we have said, Sarada is nominally the second-strongest, but she has yet to achieve her full potential; namely, due to being Sasuke’s and Sakura’s daughter, Sarada has the potential to be as strong as Boruto, but she is still growing, and it will take some time. On the other hand, as Orochimaru’s engineered son, Mitsuki is currently more powerful than Sarada as he has better mastery of these powers, but we predict that Sarada will surpass him at some point.
