Jujutsu Kaisen: Can Megumi Summon Mahoraga again?

Share:

Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga is a shikigami that is part of Megumi’s Ten Shadows Technique, one of the Jujutsu Kaisen’s most powerful techniques. Mahoraga was first introduced during the Shibuya Incident Arc, but the shikigami will play a major role in the series later on, despite being defeated in his first appearance. Later, during the Shinjuku Showdown, Mahoraga is seemingly killed by Satoru Gojo. Does that mean that he is gone for good, or will Megumi be able to summon Mahoraga once again if he manages to break free of Sukuna’s possession? This article will discuss these issues and reveal the answer to you.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Mahoraga is the only non-animal shikigami of the Ten Shadows Technique and the only one that is naturally tied to the Ten Shadows Technique itself and was not created individually.
  • Sukuna was the one who seemingly tamed Mahoraga in Shibuya. At the same time, Satoru Gojo used his Purple in Shinjuku to seemingly kill Mahoraga, as he destroyed both the body and the wheel of the powerful shikigami.
  • If it ends up true that Mahoraga was killed by Gojo’s Purple, then it will mean that the shikigami is gone for good and that no one, including Megumi, will be able to summon Mahoraga again.

As things stand now, Gojo completely eliminated Mahoraga

Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga is the most powerful Shikigami in the Ten Shadows Technique. This literal horror is not just powerful but also quite dangerous. Its amazing powers range from pure physical force to his exceptional adapting ability, allowing Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga to adapt to any technique, both in offense and defense. Mahoraga is such a tough opponent, although he is not invincible.

We know that in Shibuya, Megumi summoned Mahoraga to fight Shigemo; Mahoraga attacked and almost killed Megumi, to which Sukuna intervened and decided to face the monstrosity. Even Sukuna was initially shocked by Mahoraga’s strength, but the King of Curses quickly learned how to fight against Mahoraga, so he was able to combine his Domain with his powerful fire attack, and he was able to defeat and exorcise Mahoraga, which means that Sukuna managed to tame him as well. This is an important fact for later. So, Sukuna was able to defeat Mahoraga, but he was also able to summon him again later, which brings us to Shinjuku and Chapter 235.

As everyone knows, during the Culling Game, Sukuna took control of Megumi’s body and gradually crushed his soul until the boy was unable to oppose him or his authority over his body. Sukuna could take total control of Megumi’s body and skills. With this newfound ability, he could summon Eight-Handled Sword Divergent Sila Divine General Mahoraga and use the Ten Shadows Technique. And in this state, he faced Satoru Gojo, who had just been freed from the Prison Realm. He could deploy Mahoraga against Gojo because he had already tamed him in Shibuya.

So, what happened then? We now know that Mahoraga had incredible adaptability and could even adapt to Gojo’s skills; therefore, the greatest sorcerer had to devise a trick, which Purple came up with. As we all know, Gojo utilized his method to defeat Mahoraga and appear to have defeated Sukuna in Chapter 235. Mahoraga was, this time, seemingly wiped out, and while Sukuna did not lose, we can assume that Mahoraga is indeed gone, as everything we know points to this being the current status quo.

Namely, with Mahoraga’s body and wheel wiped out, the chances of Mahoraga returning to the series are slim. We know that Megumi’s shikigami can be permanently killed (one of the Divine Dogs was killed), and there is no reason to think that this cannot be applied to Mahoraga. So, with Mahoraga being wiped out – body and wheel – there is a very slim chance that the shikigami will return to the series, as Mahoraga is probably permanently gone. So, what does this mean?

Well, in relation to the main question of this article, this fact means that Mahoraga is gone for good and that neither Sukuna nor Megumi will be able to summon it again. This has not been confirmed yet, at least not officially, but everything that has happened points to this being the status quo.
