How Strong is Beerus? Compared to other Dragon Ball Characters!

Beerus is single-handedly one of the most interesting newer characters in the Dragon Ball franchise. Introduced at the end of Dragon Ball Z and featuring prominently in Dragon Ball Super, Beerus is a character who has become a fan favorite in a very short period of time and has been attracting the attention of fans ever since. In this article, we will talk about Beerus, of course, who appeared in Dragon Ball relatively late but had a lasting impact on the series and especially on one of its characters. Since we are going to talk about him, we can tell you that in this article, you will find out how strong he is.

The article is going to be divided into two major sections. The first one is going to represent Beerus’ powers and abilities. In contrast, the other one will be a short comparison of Beerus’ powers and abilities to the powers and abilities of other characters, divided into several subsections. These will not be detailed analyses, just brief comments so you can understand Beerus’ position in the larger Dragon Ball lore.

Beerus in Dragon Ball: Powers and abilities explained

Beerus is best known as the God of Destruction of Universe 7. He first appears as the main antagonist in the film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and then, subsequently, becomes a major character in the Dragon Ball Super series, although not necessarily as a villain anymore. He physically resembles a large anthropomorphic cat that is purple in color and with bunny ears. With a rather childish temperament, he can easily get angry and become very violent if he does not get what he wants.

As the God of Destruction, he remains neutral in the conflicts of his universe, as is the case during the clash between Golden Frieza and Son Goku, taking sides neither for one nor the other. When Frieza destroys Earth, Beerus points out to Son Goku that all of this is the result of his excessive mercy and that he should have eliminated Frieza when he was at his mercy.

He seems to have a dispute with Quitela, the God of Destruction of Universe 4. The rivalry between the two characters is palpable during the Tournament of Power, the two gods not hesitating to challenge each other following a disagreement over the use of the mafÅ«ba by Master Roshi. He is Son Goku’s most powerful opponent, surpassing him on every level and announcing that he was only the second in the universe to stand up to him, another person having already given Beerus a hard time; it is clear that this is his master Whis, the only being in the universe capable of standing up to him.

He can demolish anything he wishes, even a soul, with the help of his major skill, Destruction (Hakai). Even Dr. Mashirito’s ghost, who appears in Dragon Ball Super as a cameo from the manga Dr. Slump, is destroyed by him. Although he doesn’t know why or who, he still thinks Son Goku and Vegeta could pose a threat in the future. Whis is permitted to return back in time by Beerus, who is rather adamant about it, so that Son Goku can correct his error and take out the dictator before he destroys Earth. Beerus is a little perturbed that, in principle, he should be destroying Earth instead of helping to save it.

Despite not being from planet Earth, he and his master Whis both have a curiosity about the diverse cuisine found there, particularly the native sweets like ice cream, flans, puddings, and strawberries. Despite everything, there is still a tolerant person who is willing to pass the sponge to everyone who behaves foolishly. He encourages Goku to prepare for the competition where he will face his twin brother Champa, the God of Destruction from Universe 6. He was only exerting 70% of his power during their battle, according to his master Whis, and other people would be much stronger in worlds other than this one.

He doesn’t hesitate to investigate Zamasu’s true intentions with Whis and destroys him after discovering that the latter was planning Gowasu’s murder. Although he is a god, he still shows certain respect towards others. He will even congratulate Ten Shin Han and Master Roshi for their combativeness during the Tournament of Power. He is very worried that Son Goku will be appreciated by Zeno, who has the power to destroy entire universes, convinced that Universe 7 risks being wiped out if Son Goku makes an irreparable blunder that could upset Zeno.

How powerful is Beerus compared to other Dragon Ball characters?

In this section, we will compare Beerus to some other prominent Dragon Ball characters. These will be brief comparisons whose main goal is to give you a general idea of his powers and abilities.

Beerus vs. Zeno

Zeno is the most powerful character in the whole series, and with him being Beerus’ “subordinate,” Beerus is genuinely afraid of him. Although he looks like a kid and like someone you can throw around like a toy, Zeno is actually incredibly strong, and his powers far surpass those of all the other Dragon Ball characters, including Beerus. From that point of view, there is absolutely no doubt that Beerus is not as strong as Zeno and that he would lose in this fight, a fact that Beerus himself is quite aware of.

Beerus vs. Son Goku

When Beerus first encountered Goku, he nearly killed him. Sure, the Saiyan warrior was powerful, but Beerus was a God of Destruction and had powers that Goku could not even fathom. Beerus trashed Goku while using only a small portion of his full powers. Since then, though, Goku has come to respect Beerus and has been training with Whis to reach his level. With the activation of Ultra Instinct, Goku has now reached Beerus’ level, and Beerus himself has confirmed that he will be able to surpass him in time.

Beerus vs. Whis

Whis is a character who seems weaker than Beerus, but like so many times in the series, looks can be deceiving when it comes to Dragon Ball. Having mastered Ultra Instinct, Whis is a character who is enormously powerful, and that is why Goku trained him so he could reach Beerus’ level of power and ability. Beerus himself has admitted that Whis is stronger than him, which is why he keeps avoiding a direct clash with him.

Beerus vs. Master Roshi

Master Roshi is one of the strongest human characters in the series. He is a skilled martial artist, and while he looks like a weak old man, he is quite powerful. But, being an Earthling, despite all of his skills and abilities, Master Roshi wouldn’t really stand a chance against Beerus. Beerus is a God of Destruction, and in that aspect, he is significantly stronger than an Earthling; it would probably take less of his full power to defeat Roshi than it took to defeat Goku.

Beerus vs. Son Gohan

Son Gohan is Son Goku’s son who has trained with Piccolo. He has, in the meantime, become exceptionally powerful, and seeing how anime sons often surpass their fathers in terms of powers and abilities, Son Gohan has the potential to become stronger than Goku. That being said, at this point in time, he is still not as strong as his father and would, thus, lose to Beerus in a fight, although we’re not sure how much of his full power Beerus would have to use to defeat Gohan.

Beerus vs. Vegeta

Vegeta is quite similar to Goku in many ways, which is why their balance of power is also similar. Earlier on, Beerus would have absolutely no problems defeating Vegeta, just as he had no problems defeating Goku. But, he took on Vegeta as his protege and taught him some of his techniques, which actually brought Vegeta to a level similar to Beerus’. This is how Vegeta will become versed in the techniques of the Gods of Destruction and how he will become more powerful.

Beerus vs. Piccolo

As for Piccolo, older Dragon Ball fans will surely remember him as one of the most feared villains in the series, and he truly was a monster back then. But, with time, his powers became relatively less important when compared to those of some other characters, which is a bit of a shame. Still, Piccolo remained one of the series’ most important characters, especially because he took on Gohan as his protege. Piccolo is still not on Beerus’ level and would lose to him in a fight now.

Beerus vs. Frieza

The Frieza hat Goku fought initially replaced Piccolo as the series’ most destructive and feared foe. He was a literal monster from space, and his epic clash with Goku is remembered even after so many years. And while Frieza definitely is quite powerful, there is no denying it, he still is not on Beerus’ level, and Beerus would definitely be able to defeat him.
